Arlington Tomorrow Foundation grants $564,900

ARLINGTON The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, which uses revenues from allowing gas drilling on city-owned land, announced Tuesday it was granting $564,900. Beneficiaries include:
- Arlington Life Shelter - $50,000 grant for Reaching Out Program to address the needs of chronically homeless individuals
- Arlington Professional Firefighters Association Charitable Fund, Inc.- $10,000 grant for the development of a Vial of Life kit which will make chronic medical conditions information available to first responders
- Boys and Girls Club - $50,000 grant for Phase I and Phase II expansion
- City of Arlington Animal Services - $50,000 grant for the First Strike Program to address animal abuse and its relationship with violent crime
- City of Arlington Public Libraries - $50,000 to expand literacy programs in libraries to underserved populations
- City of Arlington Parks and Recreation - $50,000 for trail safety and improvements at Clarence Foster/Don Misenhimer Neighborhood Park; $20,000 for historical signage, $16,900 for interpretive environmental signage; $15,000 Naturally Fun on Wheels “No Child Left Inside” parks program; $70,000 large venue recycling at Harold Patterson Sports Complex
- City of Arlington Community Development and Planning and the Oakhill Neighborhood Association - $50,000 for neighborhood beautification
- Family Pathfinders - $25,000 for mentoring, family self-sufficiency program
- Green Arlington Foundation - $58,000 for energy-efficiency home repair and renovation education fair
- Lamar Baptist Church - $50,000 for family life park and neighborhood activity playground
The funds were generated from ninety percent of gas well lease bonus earnings and 50 percent of all royalties earned from the wells.
