The Rangers were led by the timely hitting of American League RBI leader Josh Hamilton, who hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second inning to make it 7-0. Hamilton hit 32 RBI in April, just three short of Juan Gonzalez's team record set in 1998.
Kevin Millwood got the win, despite a so-so game. Millwood pitched six-plus innings, giving up five runs off seven hits. Millwood is now 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA on the season.
Almost every Ranger hitter had at least one hit, while many had two. Milton Bradley went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. David Murphy hit a two-run home run in the fifth, while Brandon Boggs hit a solo home run in the second, just before Hamilton's blast. A fifth home run was added in the seventh from catcher Gerald Laird.
