Tracing Cowboys is the story of Ethan, an Englishman, who is determined to become a country and western singer but is somewhat derailed by his search for his girlfriend, Debbie. Without provocation, she left him high and dry with only a few photographs to use as a road map to her whereabouts. Skillfully paralleling the John Wayne classic, The Searchers, Ethan’s road trip takes him closer to the Mexican village where Debbie sought refuge. Along the way the film explores the illusive nature of dreams, love and betrayal and cultural traditions.
