Lance Armstrong told Oprah he doped, according to AP source
He is a POS who should be shunned; but this is the 1st step in his brand's rehabilitation......the American public are suckers. They will continue to enrich this lying cheater who destroyed lives and made false accusations against those who spoke the truth.

Dallas developer Jack Matthews bid on controversial Museum Tower
The funds intention is to make a return on investment; they won't unload that trophy property right now.....
This thing goes to court and their position will have much more weight. Right now the Nasher Board is trying to win in the battle of public opinion.....going to court shifts that to the Fireman's fund favor.......
The Nasher Board screwed up; they didn't protect the museum assets. As trustees of that asset they failed !

A Matthews purchase ( i don't believe there is a serious offer on the table) means:
Matthews is buying the MT at a price that is steeply discounted and provides enough cushion for him to absorb some of the costs of retro fitting the MT building; and/or
Matthews has a deal cut with the Nasher Board that will settle this issue should he purchase MT.
Again, I don't believe Matthews will be the owner of the MT.
I suspect the Nasher side is playing a game here..........

Opinion: Museum Tower vs. Nasher debacle will go to court, despite potentially simple fix
IMO the Nasher Board failed in their irresponsibility to protect the museum assets; They should have been monitoring the MT development more closely during the design and approval phase.
Like the writer suggested it is best that this thing go through the courts.....the city residents deserve to have this issue resolved in public.
I suspect the Nasher Board wanted it handled privately so they could avoid any suggestion of their failures.

Barbecue report: Baker's Ribs off Greenville in Dallas
good to know SB...........by the way Full Custom BBQ just revisted Meshack's in Mesquite and has upped this place to four stars....
I think it is only one of two 4- star rated (by FCB) places in the Dallas area - very impressive. And the way FCB raved about his re-visit; i wouldn't be suprised to see it get the coveted 5-star rating at some point.

Movie review: The Road
Your reference to the WSJ intereview w/ McCarthy is noteworthy...he rarelys gives interviews so it was a insightful to hear CM talk about his work and The Road.
Interesting note from the CM interview is that he likes to hang with a mix of deep thinkers; none of which have celebrity status; poker players, physcists, astronomers, etc.

You managed to turn a really good internet site into a visual mess.
Were you trying to maximize the commercial (i.e. revneue sources) of this site?
One word........Awful !

North Texas musicians and fans have a new best friend: KXT's Gini Mascorro
The problem is that you can't read between the lines TB. Why do you think KERA was able to get "very favorable loans"?
Because they are considered a good credit risk! And why is that? Because one of their sources of revenue is govenment funding.
Without government grants flowing to KERA (and KXT indirectly) the economics of the acquisition changes, and probably doesn't happen. Try thinking for yourself, rather than just digesting PR put out by KERA. Connect the dots dude!

There is no need for your name calling...either you have the facts on your side, or you don't. But your name calling is childish and diminish your comments, which are vacant of facts.
I am sure you are competent in whatever realm of the universe you operate, but your knowledge of public finance and corporate balance sheets is lacking. What KERA is doing is just shifting money around, it is a Bernie Madoff accounting trick for them to claim public funds are not invovled in the KXT deal.

And George Bush said.."the war is won" but we all know that was a lie.
KERA's answer is a shell game.....KERA gets federal funding and grants to operate KERA, then goes out and buys KXT and has the audacity to tell the public they didn't rely on public funding.....believe it if you want to......but the facts are the facts......KERA relies on government funding, and that government funding enabled KERA to purchase/operate KXT.

The following quote is taken from the KERA website (Grants and Foundations page)....
"...strategic goals of KERA’s educational services and programming by helping to secure funds from private foundations and government sources."
As Mediawonk acknowedges in the above post, KERA's operating budget is dependent on Uncle Sam. If the federal funding is so small, then why doesn't KERA go totally private and not accept federal funding?
If you think they KERA doesn't receive federal funding (from NEA, programming underwriting, etc) then you are dilusional.
And the new station was paid by leveraging their federal funding and grants.

Government sponsered non-sense. The region has plenty of musical formats available without government paid radio programming.
We (USA) are broke; can't afford to pay for basic social services for the needy, and certain groups of people clammer for government funding of alternative music.

I agree...which means I am left to making mine at home...imbiding (with the Mel Torme vinyl spinning), then out the door, properly nourished for dinner!
I will definetly give Rye a try! Rye is a very underrated beverage.

Luniz:
You caught my attention. You seem to know your Manhattans.....I am a fan of the delicious concoction myself, and am always searching for the bar/mixologist who can make a near perfect one. Any tips?
PS: the bar at the Palomar makes a terrible one.....they only had one kind of vermouth, it was the sweet kind and it wasn't italian...2 requirements in my version.

Why in a few months? If they are losing money wouldn't they shut down earlier rather than later?
I think the owner of The Grape needs to go on the record and not let the above speculation stand uncommented.
If untrue the above comment is unnecessary and puts fear into people who are working at The Grape.
