FYI: The speed limit on Oates between Ferguson and Buckner has been officially reduced to 30 MPH. New signs were erected on Friday. If you travel this stretch of Oates drive slowly, as we are expect vigorous enforcement over the next several weeks.

Good to see. Having walkable neighborhoods is a key to urban development.

On Dallas City Council approves developer-neighborhood recommendations for form based zoning

FYI: If a tow truck is attempting to tow your vehicle and you walk up. They are prohibited by law from towing the vehicle. If they do, or they try to extort money from you on the spot, call 911. The driver is guilty of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

I don't know the current ownership situation, but a few years ago two of the largest tow operators were owned by a Russian who was eventually deported because of his criminal ties.

The problem with a 35 MPH speed limit on a 2 lane residential street is that the police won't stop anyone unless they are doing in excess of 10 MPH over. (That isn't speculation, that is what they've told me.) So, the net effect is you have to be doing upwards of 50 MPH to get pulled over in a 35 MPH zone. 45-50 MPH on a residential street is just too fast.

If it were solely up to me, Heidi would be hired!!

But, somehow, I doubt the parents of the children that live along Oates or attend White Rock Montessori would approve. :(

I used to live in Scottsdale, AZ. Unmanned SUVs equipped with speed cams are commonplace in the Phoenix area.

I was there. It was NOT a switchblade. It was a small pocket knife. This lady had THREE UN-NEUTERED MALE DOGS at the dog park. The attack by her dog was the most vicious I've ever seen and I'm at the dog park at least 5 days a week. The Australian shepherd that her Pit Bull/Rhodesian Ridgeback cross attacked will require reconstructive surgery. They don't even know if her MINOR cut was caused by the knife or the dogs, or the picnic bench. The DMN really blew this big time. They misidentified the weapon, greatly exaggerated her injuries, and managed to find two people who thought that Pits should be banned. You don't have to spend much time at the dog park to discover that the vast majority of people there understand that this type of behavior is more a reflection of the owner than the dog.

I live just across Buckner from WRH, so, unfortunately, we used to shop at the Wal-Mart on Samuell. About a year ago I was in California on business, and my fiance lost her keys in the store. I had the only other key to my car with me in Santa Cruz. She sat on the hood of my car for 5 hours (until after dark) waiting for roadside assistance. She said it was the scariest 5 hours of her life.
