Looks like it's a Prophet Bar event (basically meaning alcohol can be served) held in the big room of The Door. I've changed the "where" to reflect that.

Thanks for pointing that out!

FYI, the SPCA sometimes offers "nickel neutering" days for male cats, which could potentially lessen some costs if you happen upon a litter of kittens. Granted you have to time it correctly, but it's worth looking into (as disturbing as the term "nickel neutering" may be...).

Alas, t'was no logic involved. That last line was nothing more than an attempt to make a stupid joke.

On A convention center hotel will bring more business to Dallas

We put the same start times that venues provide to us, and while we do our best to make sure those times remain correct, sometimes venues will change them without our knowledge.

When you see a start time on a music event remember that's the time the show starts. Doors typically open an hour prior to a music event. So, that might be what you (Pavel) are thinking as far as being an hour off. Again, these might be two events that the start time changed since we imported them into our system. For certain venues, we will list shows months in advance, meaning there's a lot of time there for things to happen and times to change. If we are not informed of the time change, unfortunately, with hundreds of music events any given day (not counting all the other types of events) we might never learn about it.

A good rule is to show up early whenever you can (not always possible, I know) b/c of the large number of things that can throw a schedule off. Typically, the beer starts flowing as soon as the doors open, and I've found that a couple of drinkies can make the time before the band takes the stage pass by quite nicely.

I hope that helps. Sorry, xdavidwattsx, that you missed much of the show. Our intern, who was forced to be there VERY early has written a review, focusing largely on the opening act, if that can console you any.

Akira Sato Jazz trumpeter Akira Sato, by way of Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Canada, is an SMU faculty member and director of The Meadow Jazz Orchestra at SMU. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UNT where he teaches jazz arranging. Sato is also heading into the studio soon with other area musicians and playing at the Scat Jazz Lounge tonight. With all that he's up to, the least you could do is order a Scotch on the rocks and chill to some tunes. (Photo by flickr user arteunporro. More info
