Mark-Brian, you nailed it. This marvelous play never dates. I saw a HIGH SCHOOL production back in the 80's and it still worked. And you are absolutely correct when discussing its influence on countless plays and movies ever since. And what about those little beads???

Can't wait for your review, Michael Schaefer. I'm very sorry my wife and I had to miss the festivities last night. Hopefully, I'll be back in the swing of things soon.

Catherine, they also feature great live bands. My brother-in-laws oldies band The Fuzztones plays there from time to time. It's a great venue, with lots of people from the neighborhood dropping by. And, yes, the food is excellent, especially the burgers.

Guys, whatever you do, don't miss the Whiskey Tasting. Tullamore, Bushmills, Michael Collins, and a lovely Irish Cream that is better than Baileys. $2 a taste, and have your ID ready. Yes, they check!

Soapbox briefly, guys? Thanks. VOTE!!!! You don't have to vote in the primary but please vote in November. I know, I know. "Don't vote, it only encourages them." But really, as far as I'm concerned, if you don't vote in November, I don't want to have to listen to you complain for the next four years. "But, my vote doesn't matter." It matters to YOU. When you vote, this is your vision of where you want this country to be headed in the future. Off soapbox now. Thanks again.

You know, Carol, I think your review was spot on. I think Music Man is a great show, but could be so much better if the people that usually produce it understood it better. I must confess I never really "got" it until I saw composer Meredith Willson as a panelist on GSN reruns of the old panel show "The Name's the Same". He was very, very dry, and of course the show is his autobiography. Watching him, I suddenly understood that dry humor is the key. If you try to force it, as you said the pick-a-little ladies did, it just falls flat. The pure joy of a scene such as "One Grecian Urn" is that the ladies involved are so serious!!!
