Aldi discount grocery chain releases list of first Dallas-area stores opening March 18
Steven At least here, every Aldi I have been in (Lexington, Salisbury, Mooresville, NC) are new standalone buildings clean, well kept, run with a staff of only 2-4 employees, stocking and checking out. They are nothing short of immaculate....but spartan. Here its a quarter to get the cart and when you bring it back or trade it to another customer going in....you get your money back. No carts in parking lot to bang your car, no collection stations where employees come out to lug long lines of carts back to store. It works. Well. Older people especially enjoy this as it is "keep it simple" and low stress. We have a snow storm approaching tonight...a continuation of what came thru Big D a day or so ago. Big crowds in the store. But handled well by three checkers and a manager. I do not care for "mega stores" like super Walmart" Aldi just fits our older "boomer" generation. And some newbies too. Take what you like and leave the rest....regards. 12 pack of diet drinks under $3. Pepsi at Food Lion $4.99. Can't tell the difference. JFrankO

I shop Aldi in Piedmont NC and am very pleased with their products and quality. No they do not carry everything in 4 sizes and 6 different brands. But I do not find that a huge problem. Nor do I mind bagging my own groceries since the roll to the car is only a few feet and not 12 rows deep into a crowded parking lot. Never found any wilted lettuce at ours, It is only bagged Mixed greens and Romaine. and dollars less than the big competition here ....Food Lion. Produce is limited variety but best of quality. Another thing we have noted. Not all Aldis carry the same things. What you find at one you may not find at another. Lots of weekly specials and not just food items. Bought very good linens, tools, clothes and small appliances. Have seen, generators and HD TV at killer prices (already had them, darn) Enjoy....PS their imported chocolates and their Winking Owl wine are great and cheaper than most others. Regards JFrankO

A new day
I like it when I see my son is still employed. Don't have to pump up the spare air mattress just yet.
