Three Dallas-area Krispy Kreme stores close within the last month
I never got on the bandwagon for donuts made by Krispy Kreme either. I especially didn't like their glaze donuts, they were too hard on the outside from all the glazed icing. I'll stick to the Asian owned and operated donut shops.

Cadillac Bar
DC I agree! Go for the drinks...other wise the food is just for munchies like mixed nuts at a bar. The food is very bland especially the salsa / hot sauce, it's comparable to marinara.

Chase Bank guard shot and killed in ATM robbery
For those that didin;t notice the link like myself:
"The robbery took place as the guard was loading cash into the ATM machine at the Chase Bank at 2530 Fort Worth Avenue in North Oak Cliff just after 10 a.m."

I assume they took the man to Methodist Dallas. My office windows are right over the ambulance bay.

Rocket Science Mixology
HOW AWESOME! But I imagine any drink from this mixer will cost a pretty penny. Unfortunately I can't make it tonight...but hope this is going to be around in the near future.

Lee Harveys or Adairs! I haven't ordered a burger from Snuffers but I have to say the cheese fries are great!

New Texas school nutrition policy means no more fried food at lunch
Goulash. I suppose was all the leftover veggies, meat and pasta from the previous week all mixed together to save the school money and from wasting food. Or maybe the rats that crawled above the ceiling tiles were finally caught by the school janitor...

Highlands Cafe
"There were all kinds of normal folks around, which made me feel happy."
Normal folks? Please define normal folks. I've never been to the Highlands Cafe, but if this is the mindset of the people that patronize this place... The food better be that good or I might as well go to a chain restaurant like Denny's, IHOP or Chili's.

Dallas needs alternative housing for chronically homeless and ill
No problem, I just couldn't imagine that. The people at the Bridge seem to be on top of things. I've visited the Dallas Life Foundation as well, but from my eyes and ears, prefer the way things are run at Stewpot / The Bridge.

Parking boot ordinance may be coming soon for Dallas
These parking boots confuse me. These would have been a big hit in the mid to late nineties when it was hard to even find a parking space in Ellum. These days you can practically park in front of your place of choice.

This is going on at The Bridge? I sure hope not..because I've volunteered during their dinner mealtime for the Stewpot.

Ringling Bros. to parade elephants down Fort Worth's Main Street Tuesday evening
I think this sounds fun. I wish I grew up in a different time, when families used to do this kind of stuff. Just think back to when you were 5 or 6 years old and were able to get to see elephants parading downtown. Nowadays, kids don't get the opportunity to experience these types of events. Let the kids enjoy it, while all the uptight parents can think about the possible health code or injuries they can sue the circus over. Or saving the animals. Be adventurous.

Going deep dish into Dallas' Chicago-style pizza scene
Ha Ha! This is ridiculous, it's just pizza. If you don't like the style then don't eat it...or spit it out/don't swallow. A pizza taco sounds fun though. The calzone could come close to the concept.

Going deep dish into Dallas' Chicago-style pizza scene
I loved The "Flying" Tomato in Denton. That pizza was awesome and I sure do miss that place! I like thick crust...but only if it done right. The dough must be buttered with herbs and not be too chewy or tough. Plus I like lots of tastey marinara sauce on my pizza. I don't like it when a pizza is moist only because of the excess oil from cheese. Thin crust is good too, it just depends on the place and who is cooking it. As a matter of fact I went to Eno's for lunch today, not bad although I do prefer a little more filling toppings.

Yet-another story on the prospects of Dallas' Deep Ellum, this one sortof optimistic
Why can't they keep the DART open 24 hours?!?!?
I know the hours aren't necessarily suitable but. . . Jobs are hurting. This would be an opportunity for people who are unemployed and are S.O.L. to make some sort of income. It would have to be at a higher pay rate than unemployment offers, for then it would be a complete failure.

Assassination City Roller Derby holding Derby Road event
There's also a pre-bout tailgate starting at 5 pm in the parking lot across from the roller rink. The Lone Gunmen Roller Derby Booster Club have mentioned an interest in grilling out. So grab a hot dog and hang out before you go inside.

Dallas Cedars neighborhood residents try to shut down homeless event
I'd rather have fecal matter and trash in my front lawn... I'd be more concerned with violent behavior like breaking and entering along with burglary and being held at gun point/knife. Are you concerned that defication and trash in lawns will turn to criminal activities and/or violence?
It would be different if this were happening in a nice quiet suburb. The Cedars is a different kind of hood.
