    Movie review: I Am Legend

It's not fair. It's not professionally critical by any standards really. But I am so tired of Will Smith fightin Aliens/Robots/Zombies/Twinkie-Enhanced Chickens..etc... We saw this movie a hundred times...and theres nothing new here. Take the latest Resident Evil without the hot chick and guns, insert the whimpering Mr. Hanks after he lost his ball in "Cast Away" for your drama and you have "I Am Legend"...and as far as the guy who can stop the disease AND his dog being the only ones in New York who seem to be immune..yeah. His dog is alive cause he's immune to the airborne not the contact form..okay. So why aren't all those road-runner thingies (not enough Animal Planet - sorry) and the lions etc infected...ah well. I haven't seen the other versions of this flick. But frankly, I was just bored...

    Movie review: Rambo

I loved Stallone in the 80's, he could have possibly done more "creative" work but provided us with what we wanted at the time, big guns n muscles n kick-ass. Stallone, Schwarzneggar and Van-Damme were kings with some other people inter-changeable in the mix too. After "Cop Land" which I believe failed mostly because people couldn't except him as a coward after all those "I am hero" roles, he basically disappeared. A few straight to DVD's and possibly "Driven" was his last feature film? I'm just glad to see him on the screen again, thought "Rocky Balboa" was decent, but sorta wanted him to be butt-kickin' again so this worked well for me. Now if they wanna get a Stallone/Van-Damme/Norris/Seagal flick together these once famed action icons can all get away from the straight to dvd market. And if Arnold ever steps aside the political career...they never did a Schwarzneggar/Stallone flick I guess because the competition n all. Sigh. Well I hope (in vain?) for another return to the big screen. A kick-ass no holds barred action flick like grandma made me watch :D

    Movie Review: Superman Returns

Jason is immune to Kryptonite because he isn't from Krypton..in fact having super-powers (although a fun idea) didn't strike me as making a D!#@ bit o'sense. Supposedly he's a product of Kal/Lois in the fortress o'solitude in Superman II, yes? In which, he was human himself so that he wouldn't pound our heroine into so much krypto-goo. So how does Jason get to be super? It's all good though, it was still a fun idea and you could have fun with it. One other thing... since when did aforementioned New Jersey-like rock become lighter than your average(albeit modified) commercial jetliner? Supes heaves Lex's "island" with a well measured amount of strain and yet struggles almost as much as with a plummeting jetliner that weighs about as much as a pimple on King Kong's butt. All in all though, as many flaws as you can dish out, just remember it's a story about a dude who flys n'stuff...you can't expect it to be the 6 o'clock news. It was better than I expected despite the 'iffy trailers. But that for me was in keeping with all Singers films, bad trailers, kick of your boots action!
