Neimans has cut the sales peoples earnings 20% by ordering the salaried "product specialists" in each department to meet a quota---

So- besides the 30% drop in sales (translates to 30% drop in a sales persons commission)- Neimans already took 20% from them through the product specialists (who don't earn a penny in commission on those sales-- therefore- that 20% goes to the store!)

and then...

they've been browbeating dept managers, sales people and product specialists because they aren't making their goals!

(ah.... who does make a goal when sales are down 30% ??)

and to make it worse....

they use inflated goals, submarined by competition between sales and product specialists- to fire employees for bad performance- saving Neimans from lay-off severance, unemployment etc...

abhorrent behavior for any principled business- outrageous for a previoulsy well thought off company like Neimans....
