The cantaloupe margarita is awful. The flavors don't come together and it has a jarring sourness. It makes banana daiquiris seem like a good idea.

I found it in six-packs at the Walmart neighborhood grocery near Hall St. and Stemmons, and that's where I should have left it.
If you can imagine topping off a standard shiner beer with some kind of petroleum based sno-cone syrup, you will grasp the basic taste of the stuff.

Not many businesses can throw HEB off its game. Nobody wants discount items or prices at Central Market. Do you think HEB will put one of their Joe V's discount stores here?

Excellent photos — I feel like I am there. It's nice to see that sign in a neighborhood less than 100 miles away. And look, there's Big Tex saying, "Howdy ya do it, Joe?" which is a totally new cornball expression to me. Using "ya" instead of "y'all" takes the redneck out of it. Thank god for California.

I go there a few times a month for lunch. They do list ingredients but it's pretty hard to find anything that's all-vegan, which is a shame since there's a lot of opportunity.
A lot of items that seem like a sure bet are flecked with bacon or some other small un-seeable thing, so you have to read carefully. Even something like broccoli florets can be non-vegan and non-vegetarian.
There are a few things: The Mediterranean sampler, the hummus, the Greek salad. I used to get veggie sushi rolls or wraps a lot, but I haven't seen them at the Oak Lawn store for about a month. I'm wondering if they got rid of it.
