I must say that I am amused and bewildered at some of the comments that the visitors to Iravat restaurant have contibuted to on this website. I used to work in 5 star hotels in London and have been exposed to several cuisines, especially Indian. Since coming to USA I have tried almost all Indian restaurants in 50miles radius of Plano and I find that Iravat is a welcomed change with its ambiant atmosphere and aromatic and fresh food. Yes, you may have to wait for your food to be served but their waiters and waitresses are charming and welcoming and will take care of you. True connoisseurs will always make time to experience the best in any cuisine. I feel that their Executive Chef takes pride in serving the best and the freshest. All their dishes have a unique flavour not like other Indian restaurants where they use the same preprepared sauces and preprepared cuts of meat. Also I find that their Tandoor dishes are cooked to order and are excellent.
I was present at the restaurant when a large group of guests kept complaining and the Manager had to call police in the end. Their mannerism would have put any Indians to shame and I had to keep explaining to my non-Indian guests that we don't normally behave in such manner. They arrived as a small group and during the evening their friends kept joining the group and expecting their table to be served first before the other waiting tables. Our own order was delayed as the manager had to take care of that group and serve them our Nan bread to silence them. It didn't stop there, they demanded discount on their bill, didn't want to pay gratuities and also wanted apology from a young waitress who was reduced to tears.
We occassion Iravat at least twice a week and we enjoy the highest in hospitality and cuisine, so do not get put off by these riffraffs.
