Dallas mayor’s church of choice causing flap in LGBT circles

GREAT article that finally speaks out for the "other side" (church goers under attack) and simply offers ideas without preaching. Good job!

Dallas-Fort Worth schools attempt to integrate Bible literacy into curriculum

It works as a course and not proselytizing because of how they teach it.
I went to TCU and took an intro Bible course and never once felt any emotion towards the Book because we focused solely on what era of history each book was written, who probably wrote them, and how we can tell because of the different writing styles and languages.
It'd be even more interesting to compare and contrast it with the Quaran.

New KERA station puts focus on North Texas music scene

R.I.P. KVVT whom I shared a building with for years while working here at KVRK.
Maybe KERA can find a place for the employees that are now jobless.
We also must now cover our full rent payment. Anyone care to give to 89.7, the non-commercial listerner supported station? :)

    J. Walkers: Brotherly band hits the right notes

I highly recommend seeing these guys perform. They put on a fun, high energy show, and that was THE best Miley Cyrus cover ever. LOL

Duncanville releases red light camera videos contradicting couple's claims

    Source?
Experience with all three red light camera intersections within one mile on Davis Blvd in North Richland Hills.
Those yellow lights are way too short. I'm starting to think I'd rather pay the 75 bucks than to stop as fast as I have been and have someone rear-end me.

New SMU fountain victim of bubble prank

I was just about to claim it as a point for TCU, but they never said it was purple foam. No half-way stunts here.
    Go Frogs!!!
(Also, one point to be given to SMU for coming onto our turf and shoe-polishing more than 100 TCU students' cars "I <3 SMU" the night before the SMU vs TCU game a few years back. Priceless.)

Dallas radio station KMVK-FM "Movin' 107.5" is now Spanish adult contemporary "Mega 107.5"

I still miss KDL and its techno music offerings. Sure, I can only name 6 songs that they played over and over, but at least it provided me with my trance fix.
And yea, I can start paying for my XM/Sirius subscription when my free 3 months ends next week, but it's not worth the money for the one station I listen to.
(shameless plug in 3..2..1..) If you're looking for something completely different you can always tune in to 89.7 Power FM! And we don't play any commercials. www.kvrk.com

Movie review: He's Just Not That Into You

I agree! For ANYone who loved the book, you will love this movie, too. If you're confused how a book without a story line can be translated into a movie script, just imagine each couple and their situation representing one chapter of the book. And while, yes, it's a chick flick, I even noticed some guys in to audience get into it. I also recognized some quotes, and the author makes a fun cameo. Go see this movie!

Northpark Center security ... a farce?

I usually park in the parking garage by Macy's, as well, but I always see some sort of golf cart patrol outside. And any time I leave, it's between about 8 and 10 at night. So any time I've been out there, I don't notice a lack of patrol at all.

Bible study not a big draw at Tarrant County high schools

Rick, I'll completely agree with you about kids not getting the basic education they need in the first place. I didn't think about that, but it's so upsettingly true. I can't tell you how many of my friends in college couldn't even spell.
However, I don't agree on your position of equating studying the Bible to hindering kids' developments.
I attended both public and private schools (my own choice) and we had to take a Bible class at the private school. It was actually no big deal. I wasn't even a full believer in Jesus at that point, but it certainly didn't hinder me from learning other important stuffs.
And your comment on having a minimum age for being exposed to religion.... I am stunned. Never in my life have I heard something so far fetched. If anything would hinder anyone's development, that would be it. And I don't mean intellectually. Without Jesus I can promise you I would have committed suicide in 1998 (eighth grade).
The hard part is explaining to people that Jesus is not a crutch. He's not something I simply used in order to make myself a happy person. If that were possible, don't you think more people would be off the meds?
I am ecstatic there is no minimum age for introduction to God. If there were, I wouldn't be here today.

Bible study not a big draw at Tarrant County high schools

I think that's awesome and sad at the same time.
Awesome: Class is being offered. It's not being pushed down anyone's throat, so get off your high horses people.
Sad: Often times people claim to be searching for a "higher truth" and yet won't actually go out searching for it. They just expect it fall into their laps in a the same way that people think taking a pill will make them skinny.
Search out Truth and you WILL find it.
I just highly recommened that you start with the Christian bible. You'll waste less time that way.

Should the U.S. lower the legal drinking age?

I agree with Klue. The first year you start drinking is when you do the most damage, if you will. That's the only reason I don't think college freshman should have that opportunity open wide for them.

My grades sucked as a fish, and I didn't start partying until I was a sophomore. Who knows what my grades and attendance would have been like freshman year if I could have gone out to the bars all the time. If every guy grew a beard at 18 (because they finally could with no school rules against it) you know every kid would have been drinking every night.
So for me it's not a moral issue, but a 'does everyone have to learn from their own mistakes?' issue.

Reunion Arena could start coming down in March '09

Since I'm not originally from here, I wish someone had told me earlier that Reunion Arena and Reunion Tower are two different things.
It would have saved a lot of embarassment...
"WHAT?! They can't tear that down! It's a staple of the Dallas skyline!"

I grow tired of Starbucks' wifi pollution

P.S: Just in case you didn't know, if you get a Starbucks giftcard and register it online, all you have to do is keep it active every 30 days and you get two free hours of wifi every day at any Starbucks.
    Heck freaking yes!!!
And I didn't think the iPhone was worth the At&T fees so I just got the iPod Touch and it still blows me away.

Expelled forum provides intellectual discourse on controversial film

"the supernatural does not advance science ... and it wastes resources that could be put towards research that cures disease and creates medicines."

That's not the point at all. Just because we believe God made the plant doesn't mean we don't have every intent and desire to find out all we can about that plant and what it does and could do.

Severe weather summary around North Texas

My favorite part was the girl on WFAA who was totaly dry downtown looking weird with an umbrella. She even tried explaining why she was holding it while it wasn't raining (lots of wind). Cut to 5 minutes later when they go from the calm studio to her trying desperately to hold on to her umbrella as it's being torn in to pieces...and then it flies away! I couldn't help but laugh at her misfortune.
