Eat heartily this Thanksgiving without all the guilt

You better be aware, there is a REAL SHORTAGE of pumpkin pie filling and pumpkin products overall, nationwide. I am serious. Go buy it now if it is still on the store shelves, saw this on CNN last night.

Deux, new bar and catering operation, open at Mockingbird Station in Dallas

This is quite the place. Indoor waterfalls, exquisite decor, kinda a mix of Vegas meets New York. I was at the Grand Opening, it was fantastic. Quite a complete mix of people, very interesting and entertaining. As many of you know I have been involved with many restaurants and nightclubs in Dallas over the years and this place is "completely done right", it is a destination. Right in the heart of Mockingbird Station next to the Angelika Theatre and on the DART high-speed rail system, very nice!

How about "world record" for most blogging comments on an old news story?

Dallas Police cracking down on Car Wash on MLK for "open air drug sales"

Kinda funny, what I think "open air" means is these crack dealers usually carry, in thier bare hands, white chunk-rock pieces they sell of cocaine or crack "in the open air" in thier hands. Not sure though, but I HAVE SEEN that take place.

BODIES…The Exhibition to open in West End in Dallas on November 21

This would have been a great draw had it opened during HALLOWEEN, but now is also a great time to see it. DON'T FORGET the HUGE and LOUD military fly-overs in downtown Dallas this Wednesday at 11:00am for Veterans Day!!!

Recession woes penetrate Highland Park and University Park "bubble"

The Plano vs. Highland Park thing has ALWAYS been great banter for morning talk radio as it has been for here. Sorry if I might have stirred-up some emotions,....it is all in good fun and show-business. Everytime in the past,...when it was a slow news day or slow "bits for the show" day,...THIS topic would always come in handy!! Stirs folks up! But in good fun.

A good dose of reality is good for my old neighborhood and my old high school lifestyle. It will toughen them up and re-educate them all on the value of a dollar again. Good thing is most of the homes there are owned, not double or triple mortgaged like in Plano where most people "rent from thier banker" thier homes. Reality check there also!

Nice to see Avi back posting again. I am glad the event went so well. I also enjoy these comments so much, adds some spice to the day. BTW, has NSL closed down? I don't see any activity there until Friday or Saturdays only.

It is entertainment folks, that is why people are watching. Not ALL of the episodes have actors!

Eight-track exhibit at Barry Whistler Gallery in Deep Ellum plays well with music lovers

I had an 8-track in my 1975 Chrysler Cordoba which also had "real corinthian leather" thanks to Ricardo Montalban and his tv commercials! I hated that one could not fast-forward to the next song on those 8-track tapes.

Dallas city leaders plan to help homeless

This is a "MUST DO" thing for Dallas and the CBD!! You go Larry James, I support you. If I had extra funds I would invest in a project to assist those people who are homeless, PERIOD. I have followed homeless issues and volunteered at The Stewpot and The Bridge and just want those people assisted,...hopefully we are still on the right track!

UPDATED: North Texas rockers face off for a spot at EdgeFest 2010

EDGEFEST 2010, great to see they are planning ahead! I wish the EDGEFEST would go BACK to Fair Park, Frisco's place is just too little and it is dull up there!!BTW-I wish they had a better local morning radio show, I miss Jagger and his gang on the early MORNING EDGE radio shows. (guess I could try to listen more to see if the current one is any good or not) Anyway, those were classic and informative shows!

Nick Lachey visits North Texas Food Bank to volunteer

Nice gesture, good stuff! But I don't know him, Lachey from the Kardashians or the Jon and Kate plus 8 group either. Maybe the "balloon-boy father" could make appearances somewhere one day. :)Why are they in the press so much?? Have I missed something??

DART rail to State Fair of Texas besieged

It was just too many people and NOT enough trains, I was there this morning. Some trains were PACKED with out-of-towners riding southbound, unaware of where they were headed. DART should also have had the RED LINE go through downtown Dallas and not just to Fair Park. Morgan Lyons spokesman for DART just said, "We had 150 trains running today!",...well Morgan, yes you did BUT NOT where they should have been running man. Easy answer Morgan, I don't buy it. You should have added even more trains to the system. I think you were afraid of a "change" to the system. We could have sent some of the empty blue line trains to help with the overflow. I saw many blue line trains going south and north, just empty. Could we not have modified the Saturday schedule for just one day Morgan??? It was a nightmare mess this morning, I saw it firsthand. DART is a good system for local residents only.

Dallas Latino leaders upset with illegal alien Halloween costume sold at Target

I am a proven equal-rights activist, I do NOT see anything wrong with this costume. The complaints are a bit much, reminds me of the "balloon boy" and his father this week on all the tv news shows,... they might have just wanted some publicity like what is going on here with this fun costume and some hispanic groups. It REALLY is not a slam towards any group. And by the way, illegal aliens can also be from Russia, Holland, Iceland, Canada,..etc., etc. not just Mexico and all would also be carrying a green-card no matter which country thay come from to the USA.
