Lancaster ISD board of trustees to reprimand board president

Doyle: It's political/racist for elitists of Austin take over a black school district. They assume black schools are so badly run we can't continue without their "help". They helped Wilmer-Hutchins and now they're starting to help Lancaster.

TEA helps black kids like Jack Kervorkian helped Terri Schiavo.

UPDATED and corrected: Car stolen with baby inside

There you go again. More bad news about Lancaster.

Even if you have to pull in bad news from FORT WORTH, on their East "Lancaster" Avenue.

Even if the story linked has helfpul maps showing this bad news from "East" Lancaster was on the far west side of Fort Worth from the city of Lancaster.

If you got "Lancaster" anywhere in the story, you post that "Lancaster" got carjackers, "Lancaster" got crooked builders, "Lancaster" got problems.

    You are consistant, anyhow.

Beleaguered Lancaster School District takes another blow

And here we go with the nameless griping again. Put your face up behind your mouth if you want a serious hearing.

And I don't know why you can't see the simple truth about the bond money. A field trip can be on a rented bus paid by general money or it can be on a new bought bus paid by bond money. If we don't have bond money we either cheat the kids out of their trip, or we cheat a teacher out of supplies so we can rent the kids their bus. So all so smart at math, multiply that example a thousand times and see how missing bonds make low pay.

Lancaster ISD rescinds request for 4-day school week

So you call out my name from behind some screen. Fine. I'll hear you better when you stand up at some Board of Trustee meeting and say your name and your address and what makes you informed to talk about the district and then you tell the Board and Doctor Lewis what you THINK they do wrong.

Until then you just being funny.

Ha ha your funny. The Lancaster district just finished one audit and found no stealing. What do you think? Dig where you want but all you do is waste time and come up with no dirt.

Lancaster ISD Board votes to approve 4-day school week

Since, the parents are'nt going to support Doctor Lewis plans. Then Doctor Lewis needs more money for his schools, so we need to have a school bond election. Doctor Lewis needs to pay teachers, he can't have any school without paying teachers. Why can't the parents and other folk support this good man trying to do his job?

This is good news. Doctor Lewis doesn’t just let problems go on. He’s got plans. On KKDA radio its clear

Doctor Lewis has got good folks watching his back. John Wiley Price and Royce West are in favor of the Lancaster

Four Day Exemplery Plan. Plans to save money and help kids learn deserve support from everybody. But hear again

the only news igoes to critics like Carol Morris. Why can’t any other six trustees get on TV or on radio and support

Doctor Lewis? How did the TV find Morris to roll her eyes and complain – where’s the board president? Where

do people who support his plan go to speak up?

TeCo Theatrical Productions offering a free summer theater camp

    Chad, please make clear:

"These" kids, in the video, aren't "those" kids who will be doing the class a month from now.

DeSoto ISD set to rededicate 40-year-old Ruby Young campus

I'm happy for DeSoto. But once again Lancaster ISD has done much the same and never gets any credit. How many millions of dollars of upgrades has Lancaster ISD invested in upgrades to our older buildings? Ask Lancaster principals to talk about the great new classrooms we've put up in the past year. Ask parents about the improvements to our old buildings. Get positive for a change.

    Lancaster ISD meeting raises suspicion

Well, I don't know how long an employee has to be gone before the LancasterISD.Org website updates. I see, (thank you Sheeba) that Teri Wilson has replaced Taylor. But Eugene Young is still displayed in charge of Department of Financial Services.

The latest parents' newsletter on the website is from August '06. The last LISD homepage news was on May 2nd about a PTSA meeting.

I stand by my above comments. There is a lot of good news in Lancaster schools. But the district does a poor job getting that news out. Its awful that Pegasus is the most current outlet for news -- and that all bad. Where are happy parents?

Are you calling us ignorant now? I read the papers! You wrote and I quoted you the paper didn't cover for Dr. Lewis's satisfaction. If you wrota Ross Taylor story at all, you sure buried it until now. The point is that DeSoto, and the current TODAY paper, is full of good news about their schools. All we ever hear about Lancaster is that there's money trouble. I'm tired of it. If you got some story about Dr Lewis and can prove it, show me. Otherwise our kids deserve recognition for acomplishments and leave the grownups to do the job.

Allen on top-5 list of cities where homes have ridiculous number of bedrooms

Did anybody suggest that the excess number of bedrooms is a result of city zoning?

Cities always need more tax money. The city provides police, fire protection, sewers, stormwater drainage, libraries, and all, all the same to each household. The cost of services is about the same to each household. But the taxes on the household depend on the size of the lot and house. A bigger house generates more tax money.

So we set up conditions when the developers come in. We say we want a range of houses no smaller than, maybe, 1800 square feet up to 3500 square feet. The builders put in media rooms, breakfast nooks, and 5th bedrooms to comply with zoning deals as much as to satisfy consumer demand.

Those houses baby boomers report growing up in, 4 kids and their parents in a 3 bedroom, 900 square foot bungelow? Plan to develop a neighborhood with a few hundred homes in that affordable price range. Go in front of P&Z or city council with that plan. Betcha the full force of the law is pushing you to add bedrooms.

If your afforable housing had stucco or hardy-plank exterior instead of brick; the zoning would force you to switch to the more expensive (and labor intensive) surface.

There are always lots of complaints about the monotonous rows of identical mcmansion houses but the reason for that is the master planning by city governments, at least as much as the greed of consumers.

Sheeba, Are you sure you're not confusing Ross Taylor with Eugene Smith? The foundation is still in business. They had a huge fundraiser last month, too. A successful one. Another positive news story the news didn't emphasize. As kids graduate that foundation I guess is handing out scholarships. Can't somebody name the winners?

I still wish Lancaster could do as good a job as DeSoto with their positive news stories. Front Page right here on Pegasus today talks about the DeSoto Education Foundation

    http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2007/...

Lancaster has a foundation, too. Why isn't Ross Taylor telling us all the good stuff he's been doing?

Grade 7 and 9 reading and writing "TAKS" scores came out a week or so back. Why can't the district brag about how much progress we made there?

Irving ISD is all over the news because so many of their seniors failed TAKS and can't "walk" at graduation. Why can't Lancaster boast about how much higher a fraction of our kids passed?

We named our stadium after historically great coach Beverly Humphrey. DeSoto has had contests to name schools. http://www.pegasusnews.com/news/2007/... Why can't "Lancaster Elementary" be re-named with community input per local policy? "Larry Lewis Elementary", anybody?

    Canu,

I agree we need more positive news about LISD. DeSoto always seems to have something in the paper. Spelling bee winners. Robot project winners. Teacher of the year. Doesn't Lancaster ever have a spelling bee or a teacher of the year? I don't know whose job it is to tell the newspapers but it's not happening.

Citizen, The track team was in the Dallas paper. You missed it.

Newspapers always print athletic news. Academic news, not so often.
