If you believe animals have self-consciousness, you're the one in the glass house. Verifiable even from a purely secular perspective, if you don't believe we're make in God's image. (Never heard of a penguin "gay pride," myself; you?)

For the record: penguins don't know they're penguins; humans are aware of their humanity, being that we are created in the image of God (or so I've read) and have consciousness and capacity to make choice.
