Fracking in Fort Worth: What's that you're smokin'?
I have frack pictures on my blog and it clearly shows substantial emissions not water vapor. Even if it is water vapor going into the air, that's pretty disturbing given what's in frack fluid.

Scott, you might have to do a little bit of reading and researching for yourself.

jtmbls, My land is not in the pooled area where this well is. Not all land in the area is leased. I am currently not currently leased. Most people in my area do not own the mineral rights to their property.
Here is an explanation of mineral rights versus surface rights. http://www.texaskaos.com/showDiary.do...

jtmbls, why would you ass-u-me that? Even if I were collecting royalties, what difference would that make? Are you implying that people who collect royalties don't care about the environment?
Not following you there, fella.

Fort Worth public hearing on Barnett Shale Monday addresses noise issues, drilling rights
Go to Medscape, www.medscape.com, and search for this study: Noise Pollution: A Modern Plague.
Some of the adverse health effects of even low frequency noise:
"Adverse Health Effects of Noise
The WHO has documented seven categories of adverse health effects of noise pollution on humans. Much of the following comes from the WHO Guideline on Community Noise and follows its format.[1] The guideline provides an excellent, reasonably up-to-date, and comprehensive overview of noise-related issues, as do the other recent reviews on this subject. 1. Hearing Impairment 2. Interference with Spoken Communication 3. Sleep Disturbances 4. Cardiovascular Disturbances 5. Disturbances in Mental Health 6. Impaired Task Performance 7. Negative Social Behavior and Annoyance Reactions"

Trinity River is running a little low in Fort Worth
Oil and gas operators are using trillions of gallons of water every year. That water is permanently removed from our hydrologic cycle. Let the enormity of that statement sink in then ask yourself this: which is more important gas or drinking water?

Fire in the sky: Barnett Shale flaring has begun
It's only just begun...
I'm glad you reported on this. After the flaring, the air pollution doesn't end. The tanks and drilling sites constantly leak pollutants into the air.

Barnett Shale developers form group to disseminate info about drilling
What a crock!
Moncrief likes 'em because he got over a half million in royalties last year.
"BSEEC is a non-profit public education foundation with the goal of being a community resource that provides information to the public about natural gas drilling and production in the Barnett Shale."
Actually it's a website put together by a bunch of FOR PROFIT operators. Click on About BSEEE and then click on about member companies and you will see who is putting out the information on the website: http://www.bseec.org/index.php/conten... They are all operators in the Barnett Shale Fort Worth area and I'm sure they aren't biased at all.
"We also want the public to know that the members of the BSEEC are committed to safeguarding the environment and being good neighbors."
I guess that's why it took FOI requests to find out about the radioactive material. http://txsharon.blogspot.com/2007/11/... And then there is that little matter of the trillions of gallons of fresh water they are using and polluting: http://txsharon.blogspot.com/2007/08/...
I'll bet they won't tell you anything about the air pollution but I sure will: http://txsharon.blogspot.com/2007/10/...

Barnett Shale: A point of clarification
They'll say ANYTHING to continue making billions from drilling and polluting.
A handy little book with a list of the chemicals used in frac water:
Our Drinking Water at Risk PO Box 1102 Durango, CO 81302 970-259-3353
Just keep in mind that all those chemicals don't end up "1.5 miles" deep in the injection wells because they don't recover all the frac water that's pumped into the drilling hole. An undetermined amount (the EPA isn't sure because they only measured the flowback from one, ONE freaking well!) of the frac water stays in the drilling hole where it can travel up and down the fractures and into our groundwater or even back to the surface where your dog can drink it or your child can run barefoot through it. It's about 40% that stays there, or sometimes it might be 50%, or even 60%. Then, if you're lucky it might only be 30% or so... That little tidbit is on page 22 of the above mentioned booklet.

Fort Worth Council to Trinity Trees: Get lost
Will FW drilling sites have sludge ponds to hold the frac water? Here's what those look like: http://www.texaskaos.com/showDiary.do...
You are fortunate that your council member made sure you won't have injection wells. But, that toxic soup water has to go somewhere.
http://www.texaskaos.com/showDiary.do... Your waste water will come to Wise County. http://txsharon.blogspot.com/2007/07/... Our county commissioners didn't take the steps to protect us.Google Panola County. See what happened to their water. It's so polluted they can't even bathe in it.
If they tell you the wells are only fraced once, they are lying. http://txsharon.blogspot.com/2007/08/...
All this drilling and using fresh water to frac and refrac and refrac and refrac... We don't have an endless supply of water folks and they are removing 100s of billions of gallons from our water table. http://txsharon.blogspot.com/2007/08/... The consequences of that are far reaching.

One way you can fight them is to have your County Commissioners put weight limits on the roads in your area. That way they can't bring they big trucks into your front yards.
Good luck! And if you ever want to see the damage drilling does, drive out my way.
