Is being ugly a hate crime? That should add a few years onto their sentences.

Oh god, it's like Boston (and Cambridge and Somerville and Brookline - even Southie).

Now don't get me wrong; Boston is one of my all-time favorite cities. I love it with all my heart and look forward to going back. But Jesus, all the DD's were driving me nuts! It was like a pink and orange flourescent-lit cancer spreading across the east coast. The coffee tasted like it was filtered through cardboard and the doughnuts we all too lardy. Let's hope these Texas installments do a better job.

Thank you, thank you. As a self-appointed cheerleader for Dallas, I have lately grown all too weary of locals dissing this great city of ours. After nights of discussing all the great things about our fair town (see your article), I finally threw up my hands, looked the naysayers in the eye, and said, "Get the hell out of here, already." But now I'm back on the sunny side of the street and will instead refer them to this great article.

(And now that I'm a homeowning Cliffdweller, I've got a whole new can of worms to deal with. So, thanks for the positive mentions of OC. We'll take what we can get to help shrug off this ridiculous stigma that Oak Cliff is a scary Larry place to live.)

Yikes, caveat emptor: Went to see RS at a free (yes, free) show at some festival in Grand Prairie (yes, Grand Prairie) and, in the middle (yes, okay, okay) of a song he throws his guitar into the air Nirvana-style and it comes crashing down with a grinding whimper. Of course, he effed it up so it couldn't be used and the song came to an embarrassing halt while one roadie tried to fix the messed up guitar and another tuned a back-up. Let's hope Rick's in better form at Billy Bob's. And yes, I'll still pay to see him...

Oops, strike that errant apostrophe. I guess I should learn to scoop my poop, too.

The Magnetic Fields Quartet led by songwriter Stephen Merritt is resolutely "indie" so how come their music has been used in a Volvo commercial and appeared in the film Lemony Snicket? More info
