Just had lunch at this place a few hours ago, on a whim (was on my way to buy a metal detector, which is totally unrelated to the restaurant), and was severely impressed. The decor is old-school, with different levels and huge, nearly-empty rooms.
The food? I don't know Vietnamese, but we ordered three dishes and each one was great. We had a fried rice combo with squid, Vietnamese sausage and shrimp that was terrific. Our second dish was some soy chicken on rice that was pretty good... despite my unfair bias against any and all soy products, the fake chicken was nevertheless pretty tasty. The best dish was the seasoned beef on rice noodle cakes.
The over-the-top service was a welcome change to most of the non-Japanese restaurants in the area, and the sauces they provide on the side range from sweet fish sauce to sinus-blasting chili powders that make wasabi feel like jell-o pudding.
Great service, food, and nothing we had was over $12... very nice experience.

I used to work a block away from this place, and it really is all that. Does that deli guy still work there? He was the single funniest food service professional I've ever encountered.
The place sells real deli meats and cheeses on the side, too, making it feel like you live in a big Northeastern city. Great place.
