Travis Bush's review for:
Uncle Uber's Sammich Shop
We had sammiches to go last night. I had the shaved ribeye because they were out of the roast beef. I think the sammich was almost there, but could have befitted from more sauce, sauce on the side, or maybe a dip in some jous before serving. I like to have a soggier sammich where the juices, especially from a beef sammich, soak up into the bread. Even after getting it home and eating it..there was no sogginess. A bit more lettuce or some of that coleslaw would have been nice as well. It was good enough to try again though.
The two other sandwiches, turkey and pork, were reported to be good, large and tasty enough to try again.
The only other thing I would suggest is dropping the plastic boxes for sammiches. Wrap em in paper like other places do, save some money and be a bit more "green".

Burger Girl (Closed)
We got food to go..everyone enjoyed their food..especially the waffle fries. The meat wasn't over seasoned and I agree about the buns..usually don't eat right away and the bun held up until I got ready. Cute waitron units as well.

Stratos
Great experience there tonight..the pita was hot off the griddle and we got more as soon as it was done..the gyro rocked the house...you could taste the herbs and a little bit of grill on the meat...the first sample platter on the menu is well worth it.Spanakopita, dolmas, pitted olives, cheese, and some other stuff I can't spell/remember, plus hot pita bread..just about enough for three people to start off an awesome dinner. And teh belly dancing...did I mention teh belly dancing? Someone bless somebody!

St. Pete's Dancing Marlin
Had the cobb salad yesterday. It was very good...the chicken tasted like brisket, which surprised me. One of the things I wished was different would have been about the veggies. It may be that it is too hot or gets too hot when the chicken is placed on top, but my preference is for nice cold greens. Otherwise the cukes and cherry tomatoes were yummy and made for a light lunch. Oh..and the rolls were just OK...

Baker's Ribs
Went there Saturday about 8:PM..the links were spicy, which I really like..the potato salad was inconsistent with the hint of dill or whatever spices, and needed some help.
Brisket was very dry and IMO overpowered with the smoke. Fine line there where the flavor of the meat blends with the smoke. Don't really care for sweet coleslaw..mac n'cheese was mushy.
Maybe just a bad visit and the food wasn't fresh into the chaffing dishes. Will still go back for some ribs.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen
Last night me and the missus decided to go out. It was partially a celebration. Nice bonus check means we can go out and have a decent amount of oysters before the season ends. So we get there, seat ourselves outside per the hostess' words and the wait begins. Not only for the table to be cleared, but also for our drink order to be placed and to get a menu. We order beers and placed the food order shortly thereafter. I specifically asked for Tabasco and extra lemmons. We finished the beer before the food arrived and never saw the waitress in between time. Two different servers brought our food out, but no silverware, no crackers, no extra lemons and no Tabasco. We sat there for more than five minutes waiting for the silverware, which finally arrived after another waiter saw us just sitting there not eating and wondering what in the heck was going on. Yet another waitress comes over with those items after I start in with the complaining.
This prompts what I assume is the head waitress to come over and apologize for the bad service. She comps the oysters and the crab, which were both good for the price. The Texas gulf oysters are only $3.95 a dozen while they last. Not bad, if just a bit small. She says she will return to check on us but doesn't. Instead the first waitress comes over and asks if it is OK for her to serve us.
I try my best to not be bitchy when I go out to eat, because I've been in those shoes. I cut my teeth at the old Aristocrat Hotel on Harwood a million years ago. Fine dining is even more horrid and the people usually even more so. However, it was getting to be a bit much.
Unfortunately this was not the end of the story either. We wanted to take some food home for lunch the next day. We order the Seafood Platter for $21. When the food and the bill came out it was the Papa's Platter (or whatever it is called) for $24. At this point I could have pitched a fit, but it would have been bad, so discretion got the best of me.
Maybe the waitress was new, or overloaded, but this has to be the worst experience I have ever had at Pappadeaux. I appreciate the comp, but it still doesn't make up for a whole dinner's worth of poor service and inattention to our table. Although I will return at some point, it is always a disappointment when a favorite place drops the ball.

Original Market Diner
Funny story..I had a really bad tooth problem last year and would go there wanting the chicken fried steak, but had to settle for the soup of the day, which was split pea. All the serving ladies came over to the table wondering who had ordered it...it was funny and everyone had a laugh and the bacony split pea was great..They always have yummy daily specials and some with a Greek twist.

Fuse Japan
I went there last night for an X-mas party. Some of the food was very good and some not. The prime rib was tasty, although the horse radish sauce was runny and didn't have the bite that I prefer. The salmon with cream cheese on crackers tasted like a bite of spicy processed American cheese slice. The service was good though and very attentive. I would also suggest the person in charge of catering consider the audience when picking music for the evening. The thump thump thump of the "house music" was OK for a while, but became rather monotonous after a while.

Wild About Harry's
The nicest thing about this place is Harry. You will often find him there chatting with customers. Oh and my kids love the joint. I think it is the strange looking relish, but I could be wrong.

West End Pub
I have known Bob Allen for years and he has always provided great service. Whether it is hosting a chili cook off in his restaurant, or having him cater food for my events at El Centro, fair prices and excellent service can't be beat.
