Dallas shoe shop caters to "sneakerhead" subculture
maybe i missed it, but how about adding where the shop is located?
this sentence would be the perfect place to add that the store is on mckinney ave.:
"The shop is aesthetically pleasing, with local artists' work displayed on the walls along with rows of brightly colored shoes."

UPDATED: Voila Bakery in Allen, home of the best croissants in town, closed
landlords and their greed... kinda reminds me of the Chip's burger space on cole where the landlord tried to milk more money out of the space, forcing the burger joint to close. is that space even leased out yet?

Si Tapas and Spanish Cuisine opening in Uptown Dallas in old Watel's space
Excellent food. Head and shoulders above all the tapas joints in Dallas. Asparagus wow'd me. Firm, crisp, perfectly seasoned. The rice came with a fried egg. I nearly cried upon seeing the glistening protein. This simple rice dish made this restaurant slide into the tops 5 of my rotation list. Ended up paying for two items I did not receive...the mussels and the chorizo (whom i asked the server to bring me his favorite one of the three to choose from). Stupid alcohol.

Maximo Cocina Mexicana in North Dallas now open for lunch hours
Wino4pinot:
I have not yet been to Maximo. I have a friend that is a Tex-Mex fiend and lives close to the restaurant so my visit will be in the very near future. Since we are talking just guac, really no skills needed to mix and mash the veggies, I believe it would be a fair to compare the appetizer between Trece and Maximo. Though I have ordered the tableside guac. once in the few times I did visit Trece, it was not memorable enough for me to order at $11. Maybe if you placed some gold foil specs here and there and made the mound of green show off with some bling, it would be more enticing for me to order. How aesthetically pleasing would that look? Seriously.

Love the show. Long time reader, first time poster. This question is for wino4pinot:
Is it possible to muddle the tableside guac. in the mocajete myself to save a few bucks? I just can't seem to justify spending $11 on guacamole during this recession. After tax and a 20% tip the price for the most simple and rustic of all dips comes to a staggering $14.28. For guacamole. $14.28!

New Dallas restaurant Rathbun's Blue Plate Kitchen whets appetite of local media
i hate oxymorons for restaurant names...
form wikipedia:
Blue-plate special or blue plate special is a term used in the United States by restaurants, particularly (but not only) diners and cafes. It refers to a specially-low-priced meal, usually changing daily. It typically consists of a "meat and three" (three vegetables), presented on a single plate, often a divided plate (rather than more elegantly on separate dishes). The term was very common from the 1920s through the 1950s. As of 2007[update] there are still a few restaurants and diners that offer blue-plate specials under that name, sometimes on blue plates, but it is a vanishing tradition. The phrase itself, however, is still a common American colloquial expression.

Who woulda thunk that the Cowboys would have a big fan club in Southern California?
Probably because the Cowboys had their training camp in Thousand Oaks for such a long time.
