UPDATEDx2: Man's mother-in-law dies while Dallas officer detains him for running red light

It's not just Dallas. Carrollton and Plano cops are the exact same same way. For whatever reason, the police force is being trained to become more militant (and in Powell's case), more belligerent towards citizens. This new direction concerns me. Be that as it may, Powell clearly abused his authority and needs to be suspended permanently.

As an afterthought, you should see how mad cops in Dallas get nowadays when you mention the Bill of Rights.

Grapevine minister preaches to have sex daily

Talk about the pendulum swinging the other way (phallic reference unintentional). I suppose it's good that Ed's trying to reverse the long-standing taboo that sex has become in the conservative Christian church. In a way, it's been especially damaging to what should otherwise be healthy relationships. I've read articles by Christian counselors who have actually had to tell newlyweds that it's OK to have sex on Sundays. Even worse, one statistic showed a rising number of women who were afraid to consummate their marriage on their wedding night, simply because they still thought of sex as the "forbidden act". Come on, people, get your head out of the sand. This mindset has been ingrained for too long in Bible-belt theology. Of course, I recognize not all "conservative" churches fall into this pattern, but that's been the prevailing attitude. I'm glad someone finally had the courage to rock the boat here. Or, more appropriately, the bed.
