As the co-author of the story in question, a couple of points of clarification:

1) Unfortunately, for whatever reason, only the sidebars of the Denton scene story got posted on the web site though they were the focal point of the print version. As a reader, I would completely agree with you if I'd only been able to see the sidebars. You're not seeing the entire main story which featured interviews with Midlake, Robert Gomez, Fishboy, Vortexas and Bryce Isbell, five current Denton acts that seem to be somewhat representative of what's going on.

2) The peg is the success Midlake is enjoying on the indie scene in the U.S. and especially in the UK where, a couple of weeks ago, they sold out London's Shepherd's Bush Empire. Concurrently, there have been many stories in the British music press about the Denton scene.

3) This isn't the first time we've written major takes on some of these acts. We did a large Midlake profile when "The Trials of Van Occupanther" came out last year. More recently, a Gomez profile ran.

4) And it was mentioned very prominently in the story that Will Johnson hasn't lived in Denton in several years. But he was an integral part of the scene for a long time.
