i am sad to see this. poor lauren. i was searching as i had heard two bicyclists had been killed in dallas recently, but see no sign of it on the net............................................

as a committed bike commuter i have to practice sharp safety skills just like when i (used to) drive. when i am on a path as opposed to a city street, i personally slow and acknowledge fellow citizens in passing, and always make sure i have their attention before doing so....................

the distressing thing i am seeing in this case is the headphones issue. sounds a lot to me that use of them on trails is a danger comparable to the use of cell phones while driving.

you all don't have separate bike/jog lanes down there? tulsa's network of bicycle trails seems constantly growing, and quite often pleasantly surprising. our main artery for recreation, along river parks, has @ seven miles worth of triple, well marked bike/jog/cinder path trail, and almost all of our paved bike routes have two lanes~~~~~~~~~~
