Maguire's Restaurant in Dallas launching new chef-tasting and bar menus

I thought Sharif, a magnificent Chef, had moved on to his own place. Rise, doing great souffles.

Dallas ISD to host Chefology 101 class

I hope they will also teach the basic food costing and finances of running a kitchen. Labor costs and p&l break down.

    Sullivan's Steakhouse

There are a lot of things going on at Sullivan's. They are hosting Kevin Burnett, a Dallas Cowboy, Fund raiser on November 17th that benefits Literacy and education. Along with Kevin Burnett look for Brady James behind the bar and Marc Colombo and his band on stage. There we be food, drinks, dominos and a casino night. Following that will be Micheal Irvins ESPN radio show the next day,November the 18th for Lunch with a Legend.

Dallas' Restaurant Week: Beneficial or beastly?

It's kinda like ANYTHING else in this world, it boils down to YOU get what YOU put into it. If your positive and upbeat so goes your staff, so goes your sales, so goes your life.....

Dallas' Restaurant Week: Beneficial or beastly?

Some things to consider.First and foremost it benefits 2 very worthy charities. The North Texas Food Bank and the Lena Pope home. Secondly, before RW these were some of the slowest weeks in the biz, now a least everyone in the restaurant gets to work their full shifts and make money to pay their bills and finally it prepares the restaurants for the upcoming party season. Hopefully lets you work the kinks out. Also has anyone noticed how many places are closing these days? A small profit is better than no job. Take a look at how unbusy all the places that don't participate in RW are. It's kinda like Community Service, you may not want to do it but you should feel good about it. Just my thoughts....

Rick Stein's Steakhouse on Tollway in Dallas closed on Tuesday July 15

One of the things I've learned in my 47 years is that bad times befall us all, at sometime in our lives. The true mark of a gentleman is how he handles such times. Davidwatts, I only hope that when the day comes that everything you have sacrificed for crumbles around you due to things beyond your control that you maintain that cool, damn the torpeados full speed ahead, only the strong survive, cavalear attitude. We shall see. But don't expect us to shed a tear.

Whats the matter with you, this guy busted his butt, risked his fortune ( past and future) to persue his dream of serving you a world class dinner in a stunning venue with a professional staff and most of ya'll can only say the most absurd things. Do any of you truly know how hard the biz is? To be responsible for a crew and their familys? To work you butt off and sacrifice all that you must to make it in a restaurant? And a really GOOD operatorcan make .20 cents return on there dollar. While I have never met the man behind this steakhouse, I can only feel bad for him and his family. Keep your head up and know that you gave it your best shot. Long live the dreamer.
