It's sad to see bad business practices get in the way of such a great restaurant. The night I proposed to my wife, we went out to eat at Le Rendezvous. The meal was as perfect as the evening called for. Rack of lamb, roasted duck, creme brulee, all the while serenaded by soft live piano. From that one experience, it held a special place in our memory.
We were ecstatic when my dad offered to rent out the back room for our rehearsal dinner. What better way to share the experience of that night with close friends and family? He made the reservation, chose the menu, and sent invitations. Everything was set.
Two weeks before the date of the rehearsal, my dad called to confirm the reservation and received a "disconnected or no longer in service" message. Upon visiting the restaurant personally, he discovered that it was closed for business. After tracking down the landlord, we learned that in the process of evicting the owner of the restaurant, he had tried to obtain the reservation books in order to contact patrons and let them know of the closing. But Le Rendezvous's owner would have no part of it.
After a ton of effort on my dad's part, we decided on The Old Warsaw as a replacement location and had a wonderful rehearsal dinner. Nothing can tarnish the memory of our one meal at Le Rendezvous, but very little could convince me to return.
They have since reopened, presumably with a new chef. DMN did not have kind words for the restaurant in its most recent review.
