So are they puff pastry or baked doughnuts/donuts? Must I drive to Denton to find out?

More Texas schools teach safe sex with abstinence
Teenage hormones will run rampant. Teens must have proper realistic ways to deal with what might happen. How many adults can say that they got through the teenage years without a 'dalliance' or two? Obviously teens should be informed that sexual activity has emotional ramifications as well as possible physical ones. We can hope for a teenager to wait until they are emotionally mature, but we should prepare them for the chance that they won't wait.

Grapevine Olive Oil Co. to open second branch in Park Cities
I absolutely love the Grapevine store and know that Dallas will grow to love this great shop! The opportunity to sample so many different flavors f olive oil, and the amazing flavored balsamic vinegars will be a foodies delight! And they have cookbooks to give you lots of ideas of how to utilize these fun flavors of oil!

Movie review: Forks Over Knives
Don't you think that the carbon footprint of raising beef and pork alone is enough to make you rethink how damaging meat-based meals are to the earth? If we would all eat meat only once a day, it would save so much energy!

Dallas' plan for two-way streets in Deep Ellum neglects concerns of businesses
done in the usual thoughtful way that City of Dallas does things...not!

J Dorian Chocolate in North Dallas to close February 28
I think that we have lost a valuable asset to our food community, for now. I respect Dorian for putting his business on hold while making sure that his family is on track. It is great to see men making that kind of decision that women make all the time! If you wish to maintain the high quality of a name brand, sometimes it is the best thing to close up rather than sell out! Dorian may be back!

Goghee To Go officially serves Korean BBQ tacos in Dallas
I loved this place! I will even say it was worth the wait of an hour on opening day to taste the sweetly spicy offerings. Will be going back today!

Dimples Cupcakes, Dallas chain, shut down on Wednesday
Honestly, I would rather eat macarons any day. Cupcakes are a pain to make, and take two times the icing any other self respecting cake would. No wonder people charge out the ying yang for them. Soooo...

29 critically ill greyhounds seized from alleged hoarder in Fort Worth
I have two rescued greys from Greyhounds Unlimited.I cannot tell you how beautiful, loving, sweet, and easy these dogs are to care for. If you can adopt one you will see what true devotion and appreciation is like. They are so happy to be somewhere that is caring, it is amazing! If you can't take a dog, then please donate! The agencies do so much with so little!

This article is helpful in understanding the lack of thought in taking 'funding' away from Booker T. Washington and other magnet school... http://www.dallasobserver.com/2009-05...

At-Home Dinner of a Food Writer (with photos)
I truly understand the toast thing. I like warm wheat toast and peanut butter, so melty smooth! And just so you know, I almost never eat dessert.

Greater Lewisville Community Theatre
You must see the current play "Sideman". It is very good. It is very well cast, and is a interesting slice of life. Don't go if curse words offend you, though. It is very profane.

UPDATED: Dallas restaurateur Bob Sambol, of Bob's Steak & Chop House, indicted for theft
Mr. Sambol clearly has an unfortunate problem that he cannot control. He needs to address it sincerely, seek real help, and make good on the loan. I assume that if he did this, this lawsuit would go away.

Rather-unfortunately-named Cake Ball Company opening Dallas factory in Lake Highlands
They are also called 'cruffles' like cake truffles, and lighter tasting that the ubiquitous rum balls. Not too bad a use for leftover cake if you are in a bakery...there is always left over cake tops from torting cakes. Of course these entrepreneurs are baking their cake to make the cake balls, I guess...

Sundown Collaborative Theatre opens A Clockwork Orange this weekend in Denton
These guys/women really try to push the edges. Their recent production of reinterpreted Grimm's Fairy Tales was very interesting. Worth a visit up to Denton, for sure. They are planning on doing The Eight Reindeer monologues this year as well.
