Laurie Anderson Laurie Anderson is indescribably delicious. She's hitting McFarlin tonight with her new show, Homeland, and you can bet it will contain intellectual stimulation and pure unadulterated weirdness in equal measure. An album will follow the Homeland tour in 2009. More info

Mi Cocina should be worried...a little. Their normal Friday night crowd has a great new option.
Cyclone Anaya's was a packed house on Friday night. Great mix of patrons out to have a good time, primarily denizens from the immediate Oak Lawn area.
When mgmt said "high seven figures" to design this place, they weren't lying. In addition to walls of glass facing the patio and Oak Lawn, there are walls of tile, leather panels, carved wood, stainless steel, stone. You need to sit at the bar for a good 30 minutes just to take it all in. Overall, it felt like a slightly higher end, mexican version of The Porch.
The margaritas are as good and strong as anywhere in town. The El Don - silver tequila, cointreau and lime juice - is not only delicious and low carb, but relatively hangover free. My wife cannot say the same about the house Cyclone margarita.(re: master bath at 2am) Chips, salsa, guacamole and fish tacos are delish. The roasted chicken relleno was tasty, but could have used a few more degrees.
Highly recommended that you go get to know El Don - or the 20+ other margs - soon!
