Lancaster ISD Board votes to approve 4-day school week
To DISGUSTED and SHELIA IN LANCASTER:
Not only should we all be disgusted, but pissed off too! The four-day plan thoroughly sucks, just like everything else he has done. As a community, we need to put a stop to this kaput administration! Dr. Lewis has turned the LISD into an ENRON! I am so tired of Dr. Lewis doing his dog and pony shows as if he really cares for our children. How many children/grandchildren does he have in LISD? It is really sad that many parents still support him? WHY?
As an African American, I am offended that he always uses the race card to try to sway us. He treats us as if we are so dumb that we will believe anything that he says. However, he is the dumb one if he thinks he has fooled us all. For example, the parents meeting about the four-day plan was a dog and pony show. Did you really listen to everything he said? Did you hear him back paddling? He changed his story (as he always does) from saving money that has already disappeared to academic achievement. Why were the people clapping for him?
PARENT AND TAXPAYERS: WE NEED TO GET INVOLVED AND LET DR. LEWIS AND THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES KNOW WHO REALLY RUNS LISD. The Board of Trustee needs to STOP supporting him on these wild escapades and stand up as parents and taxpayers. NO MORE! We need to make the Board of Trustees accountable, just as they need to make the new Superintendent accountable. If the board refuses to ensure that the new Superintendent carries out his duties in an honest, efficient, and effective manner, then they don’t need to be in office. That means get out and vote. Get to know the candidates. Make your own decisions and take the appropriate actions on behalf our children. Make our school district respectful again!
As parents and taxpayers, we need to do one of three things: 1) move out of Lancaster, 2) shut LISD down by keeping our children at home, or 3) clean house, starting with Dr. Lewis and several of his board of trustees. In other words, we need to put up or shut up. Stop feeling sorry for yourselves; it’s not about you! It is about our children! Take a stand.

Lancaster ISD Board votes to approve 4-day school week
Interestedcitizen,
I know that I am not as smart as SHELIA IN LANCASTER but I have a few questions that I know you can answer:
1) If Lancaster ISD is so broke, why are we paying unqualified people large salaries?
a. Why are we paying Dr. Lewis such a large salary when larger districts are not paying as much? Somebody needs to do a Superintendent Study!!! Why did we go and get him? Were we that desperate? He is nowhere close to the cream of the crop. With his high salary, couldn’t he get a tailor instead of the loud colored suits, it just makes him more noticeable!
b. Has anyone investigated Dr. Lewis’ district credit card? Why does he take so many trips? Is it not more financially feasible to purchase coach airfare as opposed to first class like most public servant employees? Why does he stay in expensive hotels and rent limos, when conducting LISD Business? Why does the LISD Board Members continually allow the card limit increases? He is not the PEACOCK that he is claiming to be.
c. Has anyone investigated the salaries of all district employees? For example, why does the after school coordinator receive an annual salary of $69,000. Did she just earn that degree attending college on LISD school time? Why do we need a Dance Director when there are only two dance teachers? Now what does she have on Dr. Lewis? Friendship West, anyone?
d. What was the special relationship with Shirley Neeley? Now that she is no longer contracting with TEA, I wonder who will be covering Dr. Lewis butt! Will The Texas Education Agency now look more closely at the gross malfeasance within the LISD?
e. Why does Beverly Humphrey get such up close and personal attention from Dr. Lewis? Why did he really name the stadium after her? I think there are more deserving people. Why does Dr. Lewis allocate an enormous budget to her track team? I bet the other coaches would like to use some of that money for their specific sports. Always remember that someone could be watching!!!! Is the fabulous LISD Administration building a hotel, motel, or holiday inn?
f. What’s the true relationship between Dr. Lewis and Pat Sadberry? What type of degrees have she earned? Does she have the qualifications to be Director of Teaching and Learning? Why is Dr. Chinn her assistant?
g. Why are we addressing Helena Mosely and James Browden as Dr.’s? Have they earned real Doctorates/PhD’s? Are their salaries based on educational degrees?
h. Speaking of Mr. Browden, what’s the real story of the teacher pulling the gun on him? Somebody needs to run out and pay for that police report! Does that teacher still work for the district? Did Dr. Lewis really bail her out of jail?
i. Why is Richard Gonzalez still an employee of the district? Why are we paying him a large salary when he is no longer certified? He should not be allowed to make decisions about any child’s welfare.
j. Is it a conflict of interest to be The President of the LISD Board of Trustees and be married to the Teacher of the Year in the same school district?
k. What happened to all of the Special Education funding? Where is the High School emergency ramp?
l. Why does Dr. Lewis cleverly evoke the race issue when speaking to the parents? Does he think by reminding them vocally that he looks like them, that he is automatically entitled to their support?
m. Why does Dr. Lewis make those asinine cultural remarks while circumventing the real issues? Does he rely on these type of remarks and comical skits as he may think that these individuals lack fundamental knowledge of the “political bamboozle” or the “personal agenda hustle”?
n. And who is this SHEILA IN LANCASTER anyway? Is she a relative of Dr. Lewis or is she Dr. Lewis?
o. Since there has been a mass exodus of LISD staff, why haven’t someone come forward with some of the sexual or other allegations about Dr. Lewis, or have they been threaten?
2) I think SHELIA IN LANCASTER, the Board of Trustees, and anyone else that think that Dr. Lewis is so great better wake up and drink two cups of Starbucks. Just ask the previous board president. The board better humble Dr. Lewis quick, fast, and in a hurry! On second thought, it is already too late since the money has already disappeared. The Board of Trustees needs to do their jobs; they are just as liable. Remember we can vote them out too! Oh, senior moment – I quickly forgot that John Wiley Price and Royce West have their backs. Better yet, let’s get those petitions going now!!!! Election time will be here soon and we as a community are motivated to change the face of the Lancaster ISD to save OUR children!
Thanks in advance,
Another concerned parent/pissed off taxpayer!

Lancaster parent claims preferential treatment for track athletes; Dr. Lewis denies allegations
It was bigger than “some” incidents, which often occurred at the Lancaster City Park and several open fields in residential areas including the field located on Chapman Street. 3 against 1 is not an incident. It was a straight up A__ KICKING mêlée, similar to the wrestling world’s 50 Man Battle Royal. Everyone involved in the fighting that continued through April 20, 2007, should have been kept from completing the TAKS test. If the track athletes were suspended, why did they compete on April 20, 2007, and in subsequent track competitions? Consequences for members of the Lancaster girls track team was not considered until several parents complained to the assistant principal who contacted Dr. Lewis out of disbelief and frustration. Dr. Lewis needs to understand his role as the superintendent of the Lancaster ISD and actually earn the $197,600.00 annual salary (does not include the perks) by implementing measurable educational programs, respecting and utilizing the expertise of the qualified instructors, and stop being the source of negative staff morale. In addition, stop the double talk and self promotional tirades. Dr. Lewis should practice being a humble and honest MAN!

Lancaster ISD meeting raises suspicion
PRESS RELEASE
QUOTE:
“The Lancaster Lady Tigers Track team has earned their seventh straight Back to Back State Track and Field Championship. Beginning with the tradition of State Championship wins in 2000; the Lady Tiger Track team continues to inspire our students, community and others across the State of Texas.”
As a concerned parent of Lancaster High School students, I don’t feel this is a true statement. The Lady Tiger Track team does not inspire our students, community, and others across the State of Texas. I am ashamed to be a part of this educational community. Dr. Larry Lewis, Coach Beverly Humphrey and the entire Lancaster Independent School District Police Department need to be fired for sweeping the dirt under the carpet as it relates to the Lancaster ISD athletes!!! There is general knowledge that several track team members were primary participants in staged gang fighting. They would send text messages or e-mails to the individual(s) who they were in conflict with to inform them of the fighting location. In addition, this information was also sent to other students to assemble an audience. Often times, individuals were jumped and beaten, even the spectators. The seniors were jumping the freshmen to prove dominance. Some of the male members of the track and basketball teams would show up to instigate and record the fights. The participating athletes were so proud of these accomplishments until they were posting pertinent information on Myspace.com and recording the events.
My daughter, who is a freshman, was jumped by three members of the “prestigious” Lancaster Lady Tigers Track Team. These types of fights went on for days.
Several parents called the Lancaster City Police but they never showed up. On or about April 20, 2007, there were several fights at the school involving several of the Lady Tigers track team members. These individuals are the same individuals who were using profanity, wrestling, and tussling like wild animals; they were protected by Dr. Lewis and Coach Humphrey as though they are “perfect angels”. They were given “special treatment” and taken into a room with their parents and Coach Humphrey. The other female individuals involved in the altercation were handcuffed, thrown to the floor, and taken to the school’s on-site police station, where they were treated as though they committed a terrorist crime. The Lancaster ISD Police Staff needs training. The manner in which they speak and act towards the students is ridiculous. The LISD Police Chief habitually curses and puts his hands on the students inappropriately to challenge them. He loves to scream and yell as if he is a drill sergeant. Why is he so hands-on?
Is this a method to get exercise or remind him of the good ole’ days?Coach Humphrey’s behavior was very unprofessional as she continually rolled her eyes at the other students’ parents and closed the door in their face. In my observation, she was not interested in the problem but, was plotting a strategy with the parents of the track team members to prevent the Lady Tiger Track Team from being exposed. What “exemplary” contribution has she made to The City of Lancaster or the school district to have Dr. Lewis name a stadium after her?
Many of the instructors were aware all week that these staged fights were occurring off campus, but chose not to take preventative measures.
Subsequently, these fights re-
ignited on-campus.The result of the altercation was my daughters and two other students were pulled out of class and not allowed to take portions of the TAKS test, received 3-day suspensions, tickets to appear in court, and referrals to the J.D. Hall Learning Center (Alternative School).
However, members of the Lady Tiger’s Track Team were not equally reprimanded, but allowed to complete their TAKS testing and participate during the track meet scheduled the same day. After several parents complained, the Lancaster ISD High School staff called parents in the 12th hour as Dr. Lewis scheduled an impromptu meeting at 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2007, with the parents to cover his ass. However, the meeting was insulting, he referenced the track team members as “Good Girls”, and he circumvented the real issues. Dr. Lewis took the opportunity to promote himself and preach a sermon. His sermon was on how we are not raising our kids properly and how we should be raising them. Several of the parents appeared to be in disbelief, but many appeared to buy into his side show indicative of a street corner evangelist.
After this meeting, several parents and their children met with Mr. Randall, the high school principal, who provided an alternative solution to our children attending the alternative school for six weeks. The solution was 14 hours of community service to be planned and executed with the individual you had an altercation with. With the intention of keeping our kids from attending alternative school, the plan seemed manageable. Well, not everyone agreed. In fact, one child and her father adamantly refused and the father threatened to remove his child from the school district. This particular junior student, who is also a track team member, acted as though she did not do anything wrong, continuously kicked my freshman daughter along with two other females, while she was on the ground. Another child, who was not a significant contributor to the track team nor fought with anyone was sacrificed and paired with another child in attempt to appease parents of students who did not participate in track. So, the actual resolution was a “sacrificial lamb to protect the reputation” of the infamous Lancaster Lady Tiger’s Track Team.
It is my firm belief that Dr. Lewis has ill-intentions and does not care about educating the children of Lancaster, Texas, but more importantly, about his reputation and being the HNIC. I have never known a superintendent to have unlimited control over any school district and within the circle of city government. Dr. Lewis has been given carte-blanche to cleverly mimic the actions of the previous superintendent, Mr. Bill Ward. To mask his bulls__t, he has hired many incompetent staff that does not ask questions or express concerns about their role in the school district or the legality of issues in the work environment. Dr. Lewis has taken advantage of the community and played on the intelligence of many.
I believe all of the kids involved in the fights, whether on or off campus should have been punished whether they were athletes or not. The “good girls” who were primary participants were not punished. My children and several others were punished unfairly and must contend with upcoming court costs.
So, I ask, what type of inspiration does The Lancaster Lady Tigers Track team really offer? And, why is Dr. Lewis the superintendent?
