Dallas frozen yogurt meltdown: Cocoberry in Richardson
Thanks for reviewing this. I'd been watching the (somewhat slow) buildout of the place and wanted to try it out.

Kanye West and Lady Gaga coming to American Airlines Center in Dallas on Sunday, Jan. 24
Anyone else see the recent "douche whisperer" skit on AOTS? Cesar kept saying "ssht!!" to Kanye and spraying him with a water bottle when he would act like a jackass. Which was all the time.

Dallas Drinks Examiner: The best beer bars in Dallas
Warden, I think the focus was on bars that beer afficianados go to rather than "bars that have beer, probably very cold".
Old men aren't known for their taste in microbrews.

Murdered bar patron is the second for Lower Greenville
Why wouldn't goodwill (theoretically closed during nightclub hours) say "sure your valets can park here, for $100/night?". Seems like a win-win. Insurance liability or something?
Fiesta blocking them makes more sense as there are probably people working there well into the night.

New Richardson parking ordinance may mean fewer Richardson parties
The email information sent from the city indicates the police would ticket based on citizen reports only.

New Richardson parking ordinance may mean fewer Richardson parties
I suspect it has little to do with parties, and much to do with homeowners resenting neighbors that habitually have many cars (owned by residents or visitors) parked up and down the street.
I was unaware of the issue until it hit the papers and have been neither a perpetrator nor victim of overnight spill-over parking. I do detect a subtext of culture skirmish underlying the issue.

Chef at Cowboy Chow in Dallas' Deep Ellum district in hospital after getting hit on his Vespa
Vespas are not dangerous; unskilled and overly aggressive drivers are.
And yes, I commute on a motorcycle every day.

UPDATED: McCarty's Restaurant & Tavern on US 75 in Richardson sure looks to be closed -- but looks can be deceiving
I went to Golden Eagle many times, and McCarty's only once. I had no love for the place, although I was looking for a neighborhood bar less smokey, divey, and loud than the Liquid Company.

UPDATED: Dallas police sheriff chases SUV, which then hits two other SUVs, killing two
Chases are counterproductive.
They occur because they are "exciting" and "fun" for the LEOs, not because they have the best interests of the public in mind.

Fighting crime in Texas should include investing in kids
If we assume "dropouts" == "failures by Texas public schools" then we are doomed to failure.
It's a function of dysfunctional culture. A pre-K program might be able to counteract some counterproductive cultural training but it does not follow that public schools are the source of the problem.
Onlookers: for a more serious discussion about the effect of legalized abortion on crime rates google "freakonomics crime". It's a difficult and interesting viewpoint.

TxDoT considers adding more HOV access after driver complaints
HOV lanes have limited access to [try to] keep SUV-driving, cellphone-talking, lane-swerving Type-A idiots from hopping into the HOV lane at a whim and killing [other] people.
The underlying problem is that American drivers have no sense of lane disclipine, driving discipline, or any sense there there are humans outside their immediate 5' area that might be affected by their actions.

Dallas carjackers shoot victim in leg, steal his auto
Yo, that's what happens when you drive a car that gangstas covet. Homeboyyyyyyyyy!

UPDATED: Watauga teen gets into more trouble while performing community service hours
...and how exactly is a local PD going to test for presence of a drug that is measured in micrograms? And get the answer in a couple of hours?

Metal thieves hit Fort Worth ISD again
I take offense that the family of the thief did not teach him that stealing is wrong. And might get you killed.
Killing the thieves onsite will reduce the copper theft problem, whether by example or attrition.

Heights Park space age playground in Richardson to become a memory soon
The park is very cool.
If the rocket is too dangerous to be in (and I dougbt it is) weld the danged door closed so no kids can enjoy it. I mean get injured on it.
We, collectively, are way, way too invested in lawsuits and risk assessments.

Oak Cliff shootings a sign that things need to change
What do gun shows have to do with it? Ever been to one? Ever try to buy a gun there?

Rat factory odor inspires complaints from surrounding businesses and residents in South Fort Worth
Ooops, I stand corrected. I followed the link and it appears the biz vaccuum packs the little rodents. Unless they are very good at holding their breath it certainly looks like some, at least, are killed at the biz.

Gay bar owners concerned about possible smoking ban
I would prefer to see smoking v. nonsmoking be a market-led decision. Having said that, it sure is nice to eat at a restaurant and not come home reeking of someone else's addiction.
I'd pay a buck more per entree for a non-smoking dinner, and probably two bucks for non-smoking with no poorly-behaved hellspawn running amok, screaming and crying.

No one is killing the rats; snakes are killing (i.e. "eating") the rats.
If you have an issue with the way snakes eat rats, pls direct your inquiries on this matter to the designer of the snakes.
