UPDATED with response: Power Properties partner in legal, financial trouble
This is one of the worst places I have ever lived. The management doesn't care about keeping up their properties. I had a 6 mo lease and couldn't wait to move. I shared the 2 bed/1 bath apartment with a roommate. We were the bottom floor and I could hear everything that was going on in the upstairs apartment. Every time they came home, or dropped something, or even when their phone rang while on vibrate! The floors and carpeting were still dirty when we moved in, dog hair in the carpet, not so great if you have allergies to pet dander. The heater didn't work but they didn't feel the need to tell us because we were only there until the end of October. The toilet leaked on the bathroom floor all the time. There is a clogged vent pipe somewhere in the plumbing because every time you run the dishwasher, washer, or anything in the sink it smells like sewage. The doors to the outside aren't sealed correctly, letting in any kind of bug. There are no windows in the place! Only doors that lead to the streets, no screen doors either so unless you want more bugs in the place you can't get any fresh air. The paint is cheap and the painters that they bring in don't bother to use tape or clean up spills or drips. The gate was broken a few times, when it wasn't, the lot was more than likely full anyways. This is not in a good area of town, Dallas can be give or take sometimes but the two apartment complexes behind it I'm pretty sure have their run of drug dealers and criminals. I found a knife on the sidewalk during a run one day, another day there was a guy passed out in the middle of the side walk! No one cleans up after their dogs. Management is very lax with dealing with all or any of these things or even trying to keep tenants. When our 6 mo lease was close to ending and I needed to find a one bedroom, I tried to start looking for another Power Properties place. I had emailed one of the leasing agents to help me find a place, only to get minimal responses. I work during the week while they're open and had asked to see places on a Saturday, I didn't get an email back until the next week asking if I could come during lunch. All in all, the initial viewing of the place is nice, and the included electricity is nice especially in the summer when I can leave the air conditioner down and not have to pay more, all the other problems are not worth living here or dealing with this management company.
So I waited to post this until my roommate and I had received our deposit back. We received it after almost 2 1/2 months, 3 emails and actually going to the office. They sent the check with no indication as to what they took out for. When I finally received that from them, the explanations were not correct. We had cleaned the apartment better than it looked when we first moved in, though they never gave us an inventory sheet to fill out the issues with the place, and charged us over $150 to paint two walls, clean carpet in two rooms, and "pro clean" the bathroom and stove, which I'm sure they did none of these things. The carpet hadn't even been vacuumed when we first moved in. The shower and toilet had red algae rings all over it.
I would never live in any Power Property ever again after having to deal with the staff and the lack of upkeep of their properties.
