When worlds collide in Uptown Dallas
Sounds like my former Uptown apartment complex, which was great for a few years until it got taken over by drunken meatheads.

CAIR-DFW seeking interns to monitor media coverage
Atlasslipped - we currently get Anti-Defamation League press releases, but they tend to be national/global in scope, not local, which makes them generally meaningless for our site. However, I do know plenty of folks over there and intend to talk with them. I have worked with the ADL before and have tremendous respect for the organization.

CAIR-DFW seeking interns to monitor media coverage
CAIR-DFW is greatly concerned that one of their local co-founders is about to be put on trial for terrorism (jury selection has already begun). The Holy Land Foundation trial is one of the most important post-911 trials this country has had and will be covered extensively by the media, both local and national. Hence, CAIR is worried about public perception of the trial.
Some excellent commentary from Rod Dreher of the Dallas Morning News: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedconte...

Urban Bistro changing name, menu, and direction
I guess the plan to roll out Urban Bistros across the country didn't quite work out. I'm shocked! Absolutely shocked!

News about Pegasus News: Domesticated but not fixed
Chris,
Don't be embarrassed by your mom's post. I'm sure no one in the office will mention it.

I just learned that this movie was produced by NBA basketball player Elton Brand.

Live Oak Street exit on US-75 Southbound closed till 2009 due to DART Green Line construction
I find it unbelievable that the left lane of Central is closed all the way back to Lemmon (!) because of construction at Live Oak. Absurd.

Panel discussion on "Islamophobia" at Crowne Plaza Park Central on July 8
If CAIR is involved, I want no part of it. I am not a fan of this propaganda-spewing organization.

UPDATED: Maguire's closes Uptown branch
This is upsetting. I ate at M Grill/Maguire's Uptown many, many times. I agree with Teresa's sentiments.

Lone Star 92.5 presents Fandango featuring ZZ Top and friends at Smirnoff
I've noticed more and more traditional classic rock slipping back into the rotation over time. Aerosmith, Zeppelin, etc. In heaviest rotation of all is Skynyrd and SRV.

UPDATED: Ludwig Schwarz will exhibit new paintings at Road Agent
Little known (and irrelevant) fact: Ludwig once tried to buy my car from me when I was looking to sell it. After much discussion and deliberation, there was no sale.

And you thought D-FW weather coverage was fear-mongering and ridiculous
I saw this on the Daily Show and thought it was hilarious. As someone who is tired of the fear mongering and dramatics among our local weatherpeople, I enjoyed that this ad makes our weatherpeople/news stations look calm by comparison.
The sad thing is that our local news affiliates are probably sitting around right now, talking about how great the commercial is, only they are doing so in an un-ironic and deadly serious manner. It's just a matter of time before we see the first Pete Delkus Saves Us From The Killer Tornado commercial.

Why I really really like Michael Moore
Yep, count me in as another Moore despiser.
With that said, there is no "official" opinion/viewpoint of Pegasus News on all matters, unlike most traditional media organizations. However, our individual staffers are free to post their own opinions, so you might see one person post in favor of someone like Michael Moore, and another post against him. We definitely don't speak with one voice around here. Just another way we do things differently.

Paciugo rolls out new veggie flavored gelato
My wife and I tried the Mediterranean Sea Salt flavor today and we liked it a lot. It was kind of butterscotchy. I'd definitely get it again.

Thanks Cristiana. I, for one, am a big fan of Paciugo and think you guys do a great job. I appreciate that you are a family business and have grown the chain from one store to many.
Have you ever considered making a black sesame gelato? I've had this flavor on the west coast several times and think it's fantastic.

Samba Room in Travis Walk closed
No surprise here. Samba Room was great for a while after it opened up. But after some ownership changes, it became overly-corporate in feel and quite bad, bearing no resemblance to its original incarnation. I ate there about a year ago and it was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. It was telling too that it was a Saturday night and the place was mostly empty, save for a large party of SMU frat kids.
