UPDATED: Man trying to steal copper wires gets badly burned on utility pole in Dallas
nobody is getting rich off stealing copper except the scrap metal yards that are buying the stuff no questions asked and a legislature that could care less.
the economy is bad enough for crime to just get worse these days. its unfortunate what people are doing to try to survive.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
only caught about 45 minutes just before the ending (lol don't ask). lots of cgi. too much. little cartoony in places. i dunno, maybe the first half rocked but i missed that part. the 2nd half was high action, battling between jeeps again, swordfighting, giant ants, stupid tarzan bs. & i'm not even giving you the spoilers. kids will love the video game i'm sure. if you like the cliffhanger suspension of disbelief action ride, go go go see it on the big screen. if you need a basis in reality, well you wouldn't be interested in this series about a whip carrying history professor anyhow.

Alvin and the Chipmunks
at least the CGI intends to look like a cartoon. very small kids will love it. older kids will love the music. adults will wait patiently for glimpses of David Cross's comic genius because there are glimmers that keep the parents happy.
"i'm going to pretend like i'm late for something & walk away now." < best line ever

Iron Man
i <3 comix. however much like movies based on novels, the moving picture versions usually don't do the text justice.
however, iron man did not suck. it was fun like a carnival ride. iron man's secret identity is brash, drinks heavily with supermodels, spoiled rich & sci-fi supergenius...imagine batman, but less emo. iron man (unlike batman) leaves his cave pretty early in the game. but the gadgets are so much fun, loud & fast.
there will be sequels. but its a great ride and robert downey jr. delivers a funny & clever characterization of the lead.

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
amazingly wonderful & uplifting film with amazing set design, special effect and art constructions.
best part is the plot line. this is not willy wonka knockoff & they have no desire to be.
this is a film for the young at heart that has a strong basis in the taoist concept of the uncarved block...we all have unlimited potential.
i cannot recommend this film enough.

New study shows Dallas-Fort Worth fifth worst in nation for traffic congestion
recently i listed to a city council meeting on wrr. they decided that central expwy & pearl expwy. were too racetrack like. so they decided to tear both up & turn them into 2 way streets, so it would be less speedy. (geniuses all down there.)
an older gentlemen pipes up & mentions "have any of you cross referenced this idea with the map of proposed dart tracks going into deep ellum?" none of them had. they never thought about it & honestly most didn't care.
developers don't care about congestion, they take the tollway.
