Well, obviously Dragon is a fan more offended by Walmart policy than pop vulgarity. One of these days, the music will matter enough that I'll seek it out. Can't wait for the muzak cover of Stupid Hoe.

Twinkies maker Hostess won't go out of business -- yet

I see your point Collin. Preservatives have indeed been tied to neural ganglia atrophy. But more to the point, can we get an injunction against their procreation?

And has anyone asked themselves what they'd have to be paid to CEO one of these companies --- spiraling to their death. When Bob"Twinkletoes" Smith wants $5M for his last two seasons of professional shuffleboard nobody flinches. But riding one of these millstones down is a career defining gig. If it pulls out, you walk on water. If it crashes as expected - you retire because nobody is going to touch you with a 10 foot long LinkedIn invite .

Opinion: Plano students sip Starbucks, learn "empathy" during poverty simulation

Aaaaand.... yes indeedy, I found the exact people to talk to. I will flat out defy anyone to find serious fault with this program or these people....
    Exhibit A: http://planopta.org/wp-content/upload...

    Exhibit B: http://www.endpov.com/host_an_event

This same workshop and curriculum have been used hundreds of time across the US, based in Missouri, and generates ream after ream of community support missives... but not here in Dallas....Whoa no. 'Cause a suburb did it.

You yoyos are so hot to make Plano look vapid and irrelevant... well, this event was run by some amazing teachers from our ISD who have taken part in previous workshops of the same series. I spent some quality time chatting with some of them about it. How DARE you smear them.

Here's a less divisive take on the event. http://www.planostar.com/articles/201...

By someone that actually likes writing about Plano (and seems to get paid for it).

I recommend checking out the PlanoPTA https://www.facebook.com/PlanoPTA

    76,
I sense you didn't read my response: Do you have any idea what the actual simulation was? The conjecture across the board has been that there was an implicit "permission to steal." That is the entire basis of all this Plano-bashing. Its entirety.

Believe it or not, some people (likely my neighbors) don't see theft as a victimless crime. As amazing as it might sound, theft carries a bit of a stigma... neanderthal, I know, but that is their way. To present that option as anything short of a foregone conclusion may seem alien, but gosh, that would be the horrible reality that we hope our kids don't personally have to face but would expect punishment as retribution. Crazy, I know, but we think it should be avoided.

I myself do not really know the construct of these exercises, but I bet I could know them pretty darned well in the next 48 hours. I'll wager even poor Cheryl Jackson got blindsided by the questions (unless she started the whole kerfuffle with WFAA - she is an activist after all, of which every neighborhood should have one).

I'll find out of this "Permission To Steal" silliness is you guys wishful thinking fabrication to tar a favorite suburban scapegoat, or if indeed it was presented just as shallowly and incompetently as you'd love to believe... and report back.

Plano's demographic is shifting and across the city we are actively working to respond to it. Whether it is a significantly growing aging population or significant needs in our schoolkids. To do NOTHING would be a sin. Seems like to do something is seen in even poorer light by our uninvolved neighbors.

Have a nice day and try not to steal anything.

76 - then what is YOUR solution.
"Ok, the sim is 'I have to provide XYZ, I have enough for X, I can get assistance for Y,' now what?'" They should be taught that "it just takes care of itself" ??? You baffle me.

Please, oh great and powerful anonymous condescender, you and the above bigoted hack journalist that lives to take potshots at Plano from her smug hipster-hollow that actually "lived as poor" with a handful of other private school students (oh, the trauma - not knowing how bad the next three days could be - shudder)

I want my PISD taxes back !

How about option #2? Go actually find out WHAT happens and offer to help the next project. "Do it more left right." Get off your high horse and get on the ground.

And ping me if you don't know where Cheryl's food pantry is. It's conveniently located in center of Plano and she could definitely use help this time of year. (And she's less crazy sounding when not taken out of context like this.)

There are actuall about 30 petitions other than Texas' for the same secession request.

I'm sure the White House will get right on that. Maybe they can announce their findings in their next transparency award ceremony.

Seen in Highland Park: "If you support Obama your sign is not welcome here"

Ryanncc23 -- I rarely shout down newbies... but you have GOT to be kidding.

Bigot? That's your first post? Bigot?
I can see being a tad confused at Troup's first blush (he's complex), and while not seeing explicit irony of his statement in simple context of the thread, it may be kind of forgivable but as a kneejerk reaction to tar and feather a stranger?

Let me explain this to you:
"Gee, if taxes spike next year, there will be overextended people in some expensive houses. Who? by contemporary narrative, will be in a good position to pick up a bargain on an upper middle class house in a good school district? Other similarly extended standard middle class stereotypes? Or maybe a rising middle class more generally identified as minority and in Dallas particular, a growth demographic of blacks?"

It was intended as a projected irony.
And if you weren't so danged hair-trigger reactionary, you would have shared the implicit schadenfreude of the assumed racist neighborhood (which I personally would have taken as offense - but it's globally accepted to pulverize people not 100% in concordance with minority leaders as racists rather than having genuine intellectual differences... but I digress - and their sooner acceptance through genuine societal evolution rather than social policy and directives.

See? A joke fully explained just isn't as funny.

Fort Worth's music scene needs an indie makeover, residents say

Clueless: Pegasus News, TCU 360 Assess Fort Worth’s Indie Scene Yes, I read it, clever boy

No, I mean precisely what I say. That tends to confuse the heck out of people. You tar both publications for a single column. You hold an aggregator completely responsible for partners. And for absolute shame a "grown-ass man" [sic] picking on a college kid - in a platform that would disavow you as fast as a key debounce circuit.

Did any of you foamers invite her to a tour? No. Offer a positive redress for her apparently unforgivably egregious ignorance?.... not really. Certainly not before the vultures dove. Just fire away like a bunch of faceless cowards.
You have developed an identity of sorts over yonder and frankly, that should bring with it a gravitas of responsible action within your self proclaimed realm. But NOPE --- just shout and fling feces at the glass.

If you are really so proud of your scene, really investing in it means more than shouting down a novice and pinning the blame on a publication with which you have no other truck. It should mean not completely pissing off people a 60 minute drive from your favorite haunt. A real evangelist would have me making plans to see your recommendation this evening over a beer instead of setting up a FB filter to make sure I never stumble across your name.

    Clearer?

McKinney debates adding additional public transportation

DART is not an option because McKinney is not a member city, although that could change.

Judging by the number that tumble off the train at the Bushway Station (the last "free parking" station for non-residents) each afternoon, I'm thinking it's more than a possibility.

Favorite room... Dinosaurs, actually. The layout is just classy and informative. --- Speaking of informative, I didn't get to see much of the interactive info stuff yet, but the one I got to sneak over and see half working was stunningly well produced.

Well, maybe the minerals - they were cool.

Wait - ok, MY favorite touch was the occasional interactive soundscapes in the place. You could easily miss a couple of them.... oh and the "Dancing Water"installation...

    OK, I'm useless. I can't pick one.

"Thing I learned?" It suddenly becomes clear why you remind me of a grade school teacher I had a crush on...hmmm. Learned.....

I giant amethyst geode... um.... no... another cool thing, but I didn't learn it as much as I admired the amazing engineering in its display device... way cool.

Ok, I didn't learn a danged thing. Leave me alone.

And I swear it was created by a ... well... whatever you call a designer drug designer.

Brilliant flow and story layout. It has a "Next exhibit" teaser every 10-15 minutes - an EFFECTIVE one - and is designed to be a really pleasant long walk. Genius. Just Genius.

I will take them to task, however when I drag my guys down there, because it will be a nightmare getting them out of one "engineering" exhibit ----- I don't know if I can say what it is..... researching.... researching....AH -HAHH! -- in print.... here Lego kiosks with some neat projects.

    Leaving will NOT be pretty.
