No one calls Michael Moore a journalist.
A journalist we all know and love "really really likes" Michael Moore, and unless he's just breaking wind as Mike suggests, I'm disillusioned by said journalist's apparent willingness to overlook lies.

Even if one agrees with Michael Moore's political views down to the last detail, how can you not condemn his well-documented deceitful practices?
For journalists, the standard should be truth above all else; hence my discouragement at discovering a Michael Moore fan (nearly) in charge of an otherwise excellent journalistic upstart.

My opinion of Pegasus News just took a nosedive. My opinion of Blue Shoe Mike is pity.

Sanders - I was your biggest fan before you went all socialistic on me.
We currently have a whole generation of McIdiots. The simplistic model is the one we currently haveāthe one where there is a single lowest common denominator to which we teach everyone. The one where we pretend that an elite group of a few educators can institute rules that are best for tens of thousands of students. One set of standards that we pretend is better than each and every one of the tens of thousands of different standards parents would uphold if given the chance.
Competition works everywhere it is tried. Why does anyone think it wouldn't work in education?

I've read your posts on the joys of riding the train--you know, gettin' stuff done while you're moving. That's an argument that trains are good, but it's a long, long way from demonstrating that trains are worth billions of dollars, or even a half-cent sales tax increase.
I once lived in Atlanta, where we had MARTA--unquestionably good, but we'd have been much better off spending the money on roads.

Mike,
That ghost town link is quite funny in a really, really sad way. Think of all the creative programming talent that was wasted.
That should be required viewing for every techno-wiz-kid who thinks he can get rich on his application without a good marketing plan.

If you're looking for a killer app, and I think you are, youth sports would have to be it.
You only need to find a way to get school-age kids to do the reporting for you. For free, of course. Maybe coordination with the schools? For extra course credit?

J, you're killing the joy here.
I never said nor intended "one throws intent of self-checking for bias out of the window."
Minnie is giving me the facts I want to hear as well as her opinion thereof. Admitting one's bias does not diminish her work, it enhances it. It also makes the news more interesting, and might, just might, entice more people to be a little more cognizant of the world around them.

I agree with Minnie and Alan on the FB illegal immigration vote, but I agree with bobdon on the quality of the journalism here.
But what really troubles me is that Minnie thinks this is her first opinion piece. Her March 19th article about Becky Miller and global warming was straight news? The one where she talked of being on the bandwagon? The one where she declared global warming as "one of our country's most pressing problems" and how she was "elated" that Mayor Becky Miller was doing something about it?
One of the best things about Pegasus News is its lack of pretense. Everybody's biased, so let's not pretend otherwise. I'm convinced that much of our cynicism these days stems from the likes of Dan Rather's "fake but accurate" dogged pursuit of neutrality.
