In fact, I was gonna post some Wall of Sound photos, then didn't because Sam's eyes were just so lovely in her photo. Don't you agree?

  I've also heard delicous things about the new Fishing for Comets album in the works. I hope Ms. Cortinas will treat us to a few new songs from it.

  I missed Smile Smile at Wall of Sound and am looking forward to catching them here.

  If anyone is keeping up on other blogs, I bet you can find my take on the staff at the Ridgelea. At Athlete/Switchfoot, I was asked to surrender my camera, and I chalked that up to a paranoid band manager, but now I think I know better. Needless to say, I didn't give my equipment up. These two bad experiences in a row will keep me in Dallas for a while.

  DEAF and Robbie Fulks

  I'd like to point out that I wasn't at DEAF, I was at Wall of Sound. And had I not been at WOS, I still probably wouldn't have been at Deep Ellum Arts (for very long). BUT, Sam's slam was too heavy handed. I mean, 88 bands were booked at the Ridgelea this weekend. Pickins for DEAF were a might slim, though quite a few really good DFW/Denton bands weren't at either. DEAF isn't a bad festival in the way that the Dallas Music Festival is; it's just not a very good one. Please keep that in mind as you are casually walking through it.

  ... Handstamps: If you're at this weekend's Deep Ellum Arts Festival, keep a pair of earplugs handy, because the bands are gnarly enough to ruin a perfectly good art-hunting weekend. Seems like most of the bands weren't good enough to land spots on the Wall of Sound Festival schedule ...

  Oh my freakin' ... words do not express my disgust ... I had hope for Sam as an editor. I did. What was the point of this? Why? Salt in the wounds? Apparently an opportunity to slam just can't be missed.
