So sad to get confirmation that Sushi Rock is closed. It had been my favorite sushi spot for years. I'd suspected something for a while, but the fact is the "new" location was much less convenient than their original 75/Parker location so it was hard to tell just from driving by. Sushi Rock will be missed, but here's hoping they reopen soon, and better than ever!

All I can say is I seriously can't wait to have a direct route from Plano out to Ray Hubbard, without having to weasel may way through Rowlett or drive down 75, to 635, to 30.

Mark Davis argues that "The day the law says that marrying a woman is the same as marrying a man is the day that the law says there is no difference between manhood and womanhood . . .". Completely ridiculous! Of course the two concepts aren't equivalent. I don't grant his premise that a marriage is defined by the genders of the spouses. In fact, that distinction is one of the major foundations of Judge Walker's decision, despite Davis's willful misinterpretation of said decision. Davis is making an enourmous effort to rationalize his opposition to equal recognition of all marriages as "not homophobic", rather than just admitting he's against it on religious grounds.

Unsolicited mini-review: A-Kon is WAY too big for the Sheraton Dallas and it's environs ($20 to park for less than four hours is outrageous, even more so if you're cash-strapped fanboys or -girls). That said, it's a remarkable experience, comparable in many respects to the mega-cons such as Dragon*Con in Atlanta or Comic-Con in San Diego. And the Abney Park concert Saturday night was absolutely magnificent . . . they were worth the cost of admission (and parking) all on their own!
