Fort Worth-based Dickies acquires Kodiak Group Holdings
Glad to see Mr. Huckle knows the difference between "complementary" and "complimentary." The Williamson-Dickie release uses the incorrect choice four paragraphs later.

New product Wednesday, in Dallas stores: Haagen Dazs is on a honey kick
The only thing that is worse than the "lethal combination of press releases and lazy journalists" is a company that would hire a media relations staffer who has never heard of Wikipedia.
That's if you exclude someone who would call a person concerned about the environment a "greentard."

Dammit! Ocean stole the critique I've been working on for the next LawReviewers installment.

Farmers Branch sends notices of rental ban to landlords - accidentally
Accidentally, huh? How did a document the city was under Federal order not to use accidentally get sent out? Did any landlords accidentally sign it?

Plano-based Bennigan's opened first branch in the Bahamas
From thebahamasguide.com:
"A typical Bahamian meal consists of crab and rice, delicious steamed fish, served with baked macaroni and cheese and a good helping of potato salad. This is followed by desserts such as coconut or pineapple tart, bread pudding or guava duff, a delicious dessert that is made through a laborious process of folding the fruit into the dough and boiling and is served with a sauce. This meal is topped off with a large glass of ice cold "switcha" (lemon, sugar and water mixture) or beer. Such a typical meal also explains why their are so many Bahama Mama's and why heart disease and diabetes is so rampant in the Bahamas."
Sounds like Bennigans will fit right in!

New product Wednesday, in Dallas stores: Hola Fruta sherbet
Anyone making a Cuban Guacamole version yet? They could call it Santa Anana. (No charge for the branding concept.)

"Housing First" solution for Dallas homeless can work
In my view, a "believer" has a right to buy into anything he or she wishes to buy into (provided it doesn't violate others' rights to their beliefs).
I don't see how an individual's faith in anything impedes human progress. I do see that an individual, an institution or a government that tries to impose or impede beliefs can do irreparable harm.

As evidenced by this continuing series of "reviews," food writing doesn't require an IQ above 80.

Recently-closed Alfredo Trattoria space on Lemmon Avenue to become Tex-Mex place
Yes, Casa Blanca does indeed mean "White House" in Spanish. But Casablanca is generally used to identify the city in Morocco. (Kind of like Baton Rouge meaning "Red Stick" in French, but it is usually used to identify the capital of Louisiana.)

Casablanca? Why not something a little more TexMex, like, say, Marrakech or Tetuan?

Do you see why I might see your positions as curiously contradictory, Rick?
Libertarian = "a person who upholds the principles of individual liberty especially of thought and action."
But
"Every believer who buys into the myths, legends, fairy-tales, and control propaganda is fearfully, and selfishly, impeding the progress of the human race."
But, as I said (three-plus months ago), I respect your right to believe anything you want to.
I hope your urban business does well.

Dallas restaurant Fearing's and Dallas chef Sharon Hage nominated for James Beard Awards
The James Beard Awards are granting a "Best TV Show" prize, and "Top Chef" was nominated?
I doubt whether James Beard could do much rolling over while alive, but he definitely is spinning in his grave right now.
Did Ginsu knives get the nod for best culinary invention, or did that go to the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie this year?

"meanwhile, the HD media person was out of the office." No doubt generating a goodly amount of hot air for subsequent cooling and incorporating into product.

New product Wednesday, in Dallas stores: Haagen Dazs Reserve Series ice cream
"Reserve," "artisanal," "single-origin"?
I wondered how long it would take mass marketers to turn those phrases into even sillier silliness.
Next up? Atelier-crafted, late-harvest, vintage, special reserve Kraft Russian Dressing with fleur de merde(TM). Available only by special appointment at selected Targets.

"DUI officer"? Is that a police officer searching for drunk drivers, or an officer driving under the influence?

Come on, Teresa. That Kentucky jelly is great, but admittedly not so good on peanut butter sandwiches. And probably not on cheese, either.

New product Wednesday, in Dallas stores: Raspberry 3 Musketeers
Erin: May I suggest that you sear the memory more deeply, by pairing your R3M with a Hansen's Diet Black Cherry soda? I've never tried the former, but the latter could easily be the Official Soft Drink of Houston's "Lean Scene."
Scott: I think you've got a winner for the Texas State Fair, especially if you slather some guacamole on there somehow.

Texas-based Pilgrim's Pride closing chicken processing complex and distribution centers
Translation:
"We're going to cut supply of chicken so we can raise prices. If we're lucky, the rest of the industry will follow suit. C'mon guys, follow suit! With all the consolidation we've had in this business over the last eight years, we ought to be able to do this."
"With its lower lip jutted out as far as possible..." Brilliant, TG!

Wow this new layout is blowing my mind
