i think this is another case of "the more it changes, the more it stays the same." this city has blown more money on trying to cultivate a sophisticated,urban image--or any image really, since it's never really been able to grow one--and it just keeps coming back to things like bronze cows and oversized plaster statue replicas holding christmas candy canes.
