DMA to become nation's first art museum to offer both free admission and tech-savvy free membership
This is what Dallas needs more of: institutions, corporations and especially citizens willing to take bold steps that make Dallas a national leader in something. Yes, we have much to be proud of in this city, but here's an example where other cities will say "Look at what Dallas is doing."
It's a great day to be living in Dallas.

Did you know Klyde Warren will have to clean the park named after him?
Re: the other 24 deck parks, are any of them comparable to KWP? I've been to Freeway Park in Seattle and it is a Brutalist disaster reminiscent of the Ft Worth Water Gardens and Thanks-Giving Square.

Photos: Dallas' second annual PARK(ing) Day was green, clean, and full of steam
Loved Park(ing) Day. The whole thing was like a reverse parade, with cars slowing down to look at the installations.

So what's the allure of Honey Boo Boo, anyway?
Following in the footsteps of big Hollywood blockbuster prequels, "Honey Boo Boo" is the prequel to E!'s "The Anna Nicole Show".

Review: The Second City regurgitates tired jokes about Dallas
There was certainly a missed opportunity to touch on a few important topics, like Dallas' never-ending quest to be perceived as world-class while other cities are doing world-class things.

Meet the City Hall worker who went “guerrilla tubing” in the City Hall fountain
This reminds me of when all those kids jumped into the Esplanade at Fair Park one very hot 4th of July. My first reaction was "they're not hurting anyone, let those kids have fun." And then I thought about the millions in lighting equipment and jets that could be damaged, not to mention the kids that could get hurt by stepping on that equipment.
Now, City Hall Plaza is much less sophisticated, but who are we to say it's ok to damage this fountain and its artwork but not the one at Fair Park? Maybe it's worth looking at retrofitting the fountain as a wading pool, who knows, but let's do it right.

August 1 declared Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day to show support for traditional marriage
@MasterMP, this is not just about the opinion of a CEO. Here are the organizations that Chick-Fil-A (through its WinShape Foundation) contributed to in 2010 alone:
Marriage & Family Foundation: $1,188,380 Fellowship Of Christian Athletes: $480,000 National Christian Foundation: $247,500 New Mexico Christian Foundation: $54,000 Exodus International: $1,000 Family Research Council: $1,000 Georgia Family Council: $2,500

Here's a brilliant idea: you can support traditional marriage AND ALSO support the right of loving gay or lesbian couples to wed. Why has the argument devolved into an either/or situation?

swirlit64, when you get Type 2 Diabetes from eating all that Chick-fil-A, see if they'll stand for universal healthcare too.

First they opposed gays in the military and now they fear "militant homosexuals"? P.S. Support for Chick-fil-A comes with support for other things, like Exodus International's reparative therapy to "correct homosexual behavior".

Klyde Warren Park turned Harwood Street into virtual ghost town
And I didn't just mean traffic from Woodall, but also plenty of traffic from Ross Avenue heading south on Harwood.
I do agree that it should become two-way with a cycle track.

Klyde Warren Park turned Harwood Street into virtual ghost town
As someone who works on Harwood just south of the park, I can tell you I couldn't be happier to see it closed. First of all, anything to distance downtown from the nightmare of LoMac is a good thing. And second, I'm more than happy to see fewer cars on Harwood. In fact, I'm shocked that you would want more cars speeding down that road.
You say that "Some traffic is better than no traffic," and that's exactly what we have now. There are still plenty of cars turning right on Harwood from Woodall Rodgers.

Dallas' Klyde Warren Park opens October 27 and 28
Great news! They were smart to pick October since that is typically the nicest weather of the year for Dallas.
As for the drive-thru banks and the lots adjacent to each (I see three banks, not counting the Fed, on Google Maps facing the park), they better turn residential or you can forget about any steady stream of park patrons. Dallas loves its parks on "special events" only, because god forbid they actually live next to one.

Dallas eyeballing John Carpenter Plaza as a potential park downtown
What is the timeline for the new master plan? Seems like with all the dogs that live downtown, there should be one new dog park.
