Eat heartily this Thanksgiving without all the guilt
Or you can realize that eating extra calories one day out of the year isn't going to make any sort of significant impact on your overall health. Get up early that morning and go for a jog or work out, eat plenty of veggies and protein, and get back to a normal diet the next day...nothing unhealthy about leftover turkey.

Gachet Coffee Lounge in Dallas' Victory Park closing today
well it was a nice place. Very friendly girls working there, nice relaxing atmosphere, good espresso. It was a long trip for me but I always enjoyed meeting people there.

hmmm that beer thing sounds pretty good, I wonder if it would be worthwhile to drive out to Ft. Worth two weekends in a row..

Revisiting the Library Bar at the Warwick Melrose Hotel in Dallas
well I like mine perfect, no fruit, with rye. So the trick for me is to find a place with rye, which is harder than you'd think.
I haven't been to a huge variety of bars around town, but you can get any drink (including a sazerac!) at the Windmill Lounge on Maple. To be honest I don't know if I can think of anywhere else where I've really liked what I had.

I thought their Manhattan was a bit watered down and over-aerated. OTOH I was thinking about stopping in for a drink Friday night since it's a pretty classy joint.

Dallas Vegan finds nothing to eat at State Fair of Texas
I had assumed the fried green beans were vegan, it's not like they're going to use animal fat to fry in when veg oil is so much cheaper.

Oak Lawn's boundaries disappearing
I've only been here about 8 years and have lived in Plano most of that time...I always thought of Oak Lawn as closer to Oak Lawn & Turtle Creek rather than going all the way east to 75 (ie Uptown).

20 things that would make Downtown Dallas better
Wouldn't you need people who lived there to support those places? The reason all those places are spread out is because they're in neighborhoods where people can afford to live.

Saturday's opening preview of Samar Restaurant by Stephan Pyles was one of those nights
lena, I don't think there's much intention to do "authentic", it's definitely more fusion oriented, a la some of Stephen Pyle's offerings.

Hi yourself! Sounds like you had fun. Whoever put that whole thing together, were no amateurs, eh? All the trendy cones and so forth aside, I'm hopeful that there will be something truly Indian on the menu that I can't get elsewhere in town..we'll see. You're right though, it will be good for Dallas if a place like this succeeds, even if it's a bit of a whitewash.

well one of his interceptions was a perfectly thrown ball. too bad it was perfectly thrown right to the giants safety! and "acceptable" or not it's what your getting. if it was as easy as saying "ok we want peyton manning (or tom brady) now" i'm sure jerry would have done that years ago. that's not how it works in real life. if you think you can do better, you should have tried out.

I thought the secondary was pretty good. You are not going to completely shut down a team as good as the Giants, that's just not a reasonable expectation. Scandrick actually tackled very well for the most part, him and Jenkins made a number of solid open field tackles. A cornerback is going to miss a tackle every once in a while, that just happens with a 180 pound guy.
Romo was on target on plenty of passes but I guess you tend to forget that. Of course he was behind on the int off Witten's foot, that was a poorly thrown ball, and completely missed the deep safety on the long interception. The first one was just him forcing probably, looked like he got caught up in the excitement etc.
Overall the Cowboys were winning with 4 seconds left and had numerous chances to win the game. If Romo plays even close to as good as he did in the second half last week they win, but it looked like the pressure was simply too much. I expect him to bounce back and string together a couple of good games, but it remains to be seen how he can perform in a pressure situation.

I'm lost in this new layout. :_( Someone hold me.
no problem, we're not goin' anywhere :-)
