City of Garland cancels Fourth of July celebration

As a citizen of Garland who as seen a library closure, code enforcement cutbacks, police patrol cutbacks and animal services cutbacks, I think it is only right and fair to cancel an event that barely broke even. Services where cut so taxes would not increase. City employees are expected to work harder with less staff and fewer resources. These folks deserve all of their pay and benefits. Non civil service employees went without merit raises for at least three years. Citizens forget you cannot have city services without paying for them. These services include free internet and Dvds at the library, parks and good streets. The Duck Creek Greenbelt is always busy with joggers and families.
