Dance review: The Nutcracker by Texas Ballet Theater at the Winspear Opera House

Act II is generally my very favorite, but I was surprised (and disappointed) by the omission of Sugar Plum's turn sequence during her variation, and the change in Act II's lineup. (Russian dance traditionally follows Chinese Tea.) It also sounded like the music was a cut in a few places during Act I. Agreed that it would have been nice to see a little bit strong corps work for Snow & Flowers... overall, it seemed like there was a huge disconnect between dancers. No relationship! It would have been nice to see Dewdrop & Sugar Plum make eye contact with their Cavaliers!

However, major props to Mr. Stevenson's Party Scene. It was well staged, well acted. A true joy to watch! Honestly, it's one of the best I've ever seen! And I thought that the snow bubbles in the audience at the Saturday matinee was a brilliant touch for all your younger fans!
