    Fort Worth City Council

Several things that I have observed recently that brings to question our code compliance department following set guide lines that are in the best interest of the public. 1. At the new McDonalds on Heritage the entrance doors appear to be only 24" wide and there is no access for handicapped or an emergency gurney. I have not seen a commercial establishment with such narrow doors. How can this be in compliance. The access off of the main street is difficult to navigate and the parking is extremely limited. It appears that the land space is not suffiencient for this establishment. How did the planning commission approve this project? Were there exceptions granted that exceed best use of this space?

    1. The biggest question how was a strip mall (north of Timberland) approved on Alta Vista that prevents the street from continuing in a straight direction? The turn that is required also is dangerous, since proper traffic controls have not been in stalled. This is also true at Timberland and Alta Vista intersection. Sometimes I think that nothing is done until there are major accidents resulting in injury or death.

    Fort Worth City Council

Since moving to district 2 nearly 3 years ago, I have heard and been told that Golden Triangle was going to be expanded to a major artery. There have been 2 bond elections with monies to complete this project. I was first told that construction would begin in 2008 with completion by the summer of 2009. The only work that I have seen is the current utility work. Is that a part of the project and when would we expect to see the completion of the expansion? I am also concerned where the city may have spent the funds to complete other projects and now do not have the funds available. This i a major project for the area which should have been complete at least 5 years ago. Sometimes I wonder if this area has any representation when it comes to projects to improve the area. To me it is goes back to integrity of our representative and the council as a whole, especially when you see major projects such as the Tarrant Parkway and I 35W west of the freeway complete and ready to go, just sitting and waiting for traffic which is a couple of years off.
