Kim Brimer not conceding victory to Wendy Davis
chrisdanger - calling Brimer a right winger is an insult to right-wingers like me. He wasn't even a good conservative. You are right about him being bitter, a thief, and a liar though. Go Wendy! from a libertarian leaning Republican.

Give me a break, Ann. No one is suggesting censoring ideas, certainly not me. You and I have had enough conversations that you should know better than that. But when it comes to providing you with entertainment options, I think someone other than the taxpayer should foot the bill. Yes, many of us do read books for entertainment, but the worst of dime store novels has more mind-expanding, thought provoking potential than almost every movie in popular culture.
This is a question of FOCUS. The library budget includes cuts in subscriptions and periodicals. My suggestion is that DVDs readily available in plenty of other venues be reduced before eliminating subscription material that brings a far broader range of thoughts and ideas than two-year old Hollywood tripe.

If the Republican Party was doing its job correctly, we wouldn't need a Libertarian party.

Security at Mayfest was a bit overbearing
To the main point of your story, I see your point and I think you are largely correct. But what's with the parenthetical phrase in the first sentence? Is every civic event now expected to be dedicated to the preaching of panic stricken enviro-nuts?
"Gee I went to a wedding and the best man gave a toast where he didn't mention global warming or curse the President. I was so disgusted that I had to leave."

Scared Irving immigrants removing children from school
Note to author: Irving does not have the authority to deport anyone. Irving is simply reporting illegal activity to the appropriate federal authority. Your statement that "Irving is deporting more than 300 immigrants a month" is factually incorrect.

Fort Worth's Better Business Bureau revokes Just Brakes' membership
I had the same experience almost 10 years ago. My $99.88 brake job cost over $500 - I have never had so many things found "wrong" with my brakes as they found. Soon after, a co-worker of mine had the very same thing happen to him.
