Dream Cafe
The food was excellent. Their menu is varied and eclectic, with a nice selection of veggies.
The killer is that the service was inattentive and disdainful. I was given the impression they were deciding if I was good enough to be given a coffee refill or not. After making several requests and waiting ages I had to go get my own water.
Impression overall - pretentious place for people who want to be "seen" having breakfast.

AllGood Cafe
I can't say enough good things about the Allgood. I've never eaten anything there that wasn't fantastic. Their pancakes are phenomenal - and huge, get 'em topped with fresh fruit for a treat. The migas, sausage, gravy and biscuits are all excellent.
I love sitting in a booth on Saturday morning drinking coffee and listening to whatever Mike has on the changer. It's a perfect atmosphere, and they support the local music scene by bringing in live acts in the evenings.
Dinner's great too - my personal favorites are the Cobb Salad and the King Ranch Chicken. Also their sides are generous and tasty. They buy their produce from the local Farmer's Market - it doesn't get any fresher than that. Go on Tuesday for the Two Fer special. I've heard they just added new menu items, so I need to go back in to give something different a try!
I love this place. I love the atmosphere, the food, the people, the music. The only real drawback is that the secret's out - weekend breakfast often has a wait, but boy is it worth it!

Barbec's
We've been to Barbec's twice. Once for a mediocre catfish all you can eat supper. It wasn't great but since we'd heard good things about breakfast and the place seemed cute we went back on a Saturday morning. It was packed. After a wait and much jostling we got stuck in the back addition (ugly!) in crammed together tables under hideous fluorescent lighting. At one point the waitress swung a pot full of hot coffee right up and over my husbands head, perilously close to his cheek. The service was terrible. We waited ages for the single coffee refill we got. My gravy came out cold. Everything else was tasteless. The pancakes were greasy. And worst of all - the famed beer batter biscuits have SUGAR in them. Who wants to eat a SWEET biscuit with gravy? Not me. Not ever again.
