Why just "non livestock animals"? Why are you allowed to be cruel or torture livestock of any kind? Just because we eat them doesn't mean they should suffer. And what about intentional, non-slaughtering abuse? People beat, use electric prods on, and downright mistreat horses, cattle, goats and pigs. ALL intentional abuse or torture of a non-human animal, whether it's a pet or a meal, should be a state jail felony.
