Paul Quinn College supporters raise $216,000 during revival
Paul Quinn College: Let it go.
Before responding to my comment, please go down there and have a little drive around the neighborhood. (I-45 to Simpson Stuart Road. Go a few blocks west).
It's the type place that a college kid would want to be FROM, not TO.

Since this is the "ultimate" haunted house, there is no point in going to another one after this one.

Landmark strip on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas razed for new bank
David, you had it right. The Wilshire was the one that ran The Exorcist. It was released about Xmas of '73 and I saw it on New Year's Eve. The Wilshire was on the SE corner of Mockingbird & Skillman. It had a big covered area at the front doors under its marquee. One afternoon a hailstorm hit unexpectedly and I drove my car right up to the doors to get out of the onslaught.

UPDATE: Balcony Club in Lakewood/Dallas in peril of closing on Sunday
jtmbls, your criticism of TABC about collecting unpaid taxes was unwarranted. Shorting the state comptroller is the #1 way that bar owners get themselves behind the eight ball. Don't mess with Texas.

TwoRows branch in Addison closes
I generally enjoy handcrafted beers and try to support the brewpubs that make them in all the towns I visit. I tried both TwoRows locations several times and was always disappointed. Their beers, to use a common descriptive term, were donkey p*ss.
Good riddance.

NTTA posts "wrong way" signs on Tollway
This idea must have been thunk up by somebody at Dallas Parks & Recreation. (They LOVE signs and truly believe that posting them will alter human behavior).

South Dallas neighborhood to restore historic, whites-only cemetery
Today I visited Lagow Cemetery. It's on Carpenter Avenue, a half-block north of 2nd Avenue (just around the corner from the Black Warriors Motorcycle Club).
Three-quarters of the markers are long gone and many of the remaining ones have obviously been moved from their original positions. Highest and best use of this property is cultivation of poison ivy (which is already rampant).

New Deep Ellum moped shop helping drivers stay green
Rising fuel prices, my butt! Oil & gas prices are lower now than they were in '06 and they're damned sure a lot lower than they were last summer. Wendi, please come up with a better opening line for your story, because the facts don't support your premise.

Alex T, your writing style is esconced somewhere between babble and drivel. I have to move to another dimension to unravel your stuff. It is usually a fruitless journey and I am left scratching my head.
