Eats has list of places in Dallas to get your burgers ground fresh

What a perfect time to chat about veg burgers!!!!!

Houston's has a good veg burger and the bun lovely as well.

Another surprising good veg burger is at Grand Lux Cafe - mushroom-y and d-lish. Not a frozen processed heap of gluten gobs and soy protein isolates.

But then...every now and then, you need a veg burger and you are desperate - the Goldrush fills that void although I think it's a Morningstar Farms Griller, but tasty as heck and chock full of the above mentioned crap.

Even more desperate times call for the veg burger at Burger King.

Cafe Express had the black bean/plantain burger a long time ago. It was good after you doused it with guac and salsa, but a total mess. Still, I was sad to see it go even though I gained 10 lbs of air everytime I ate it.

Restaurant review: Smoke at Belmont Hotel in Dallas

Nice focusing on the sides. I'd like to know who orders from the vegetarian menu and pays $15 for what amounts to a plate of condiments: Braised fennel, roasted garlic, cider vinegar and Gorgonzola cheese grits.

Dallas Vegan finds nothing to eat at State Fair of Texas

Really? The veg patties from Carribean Foods in the food court always seemed totally vegan. Maybe they use butter? Plus, you can get that veg patty with a salad.

Concert review: Sonic Youth at House of Blues in Dallas, July 15

Wow! Can't believe I missed seeing you, TG. I was pressed up in front of Thurston...AWESOME!!!

Best of the evening was Stereo Sanctity...and PCH, which I never heard live even though I seen just about every show since '88. And Shaking Hell was suberb!!!

Did you see Kim's shoes? The most perfect pair of T-strap slingbacks you've ever seen, I swear.

New product Wednesday, at Dallas-area Whataburgers: Hot Pumpkin Pie

My GOD! I didn't realize this fried pumpkin pie is a real food - i.e. not filled with schnieke-crap like high fructose corn syrup. It's killer!!!...and soooo d-lish!!!

New product Wednesday, at Dallas-area stores: Ben & Jerry's Limited-Edition Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream

John - Let's not forget about the d-lish pumpkin fried pie at What-A-Burger (2/$1)...it's sublime!!
And the churros at JITB aren't bad either...5/$1.

Going to the CM today. I'll be on the lookout for B&J PCic.

Neighborhood Services, new restaurant by chef Nick Badovinus, to open on Lovers Lane in Dallas at end of October

    Really???

    It's the flatbread that's INSANE??

And the crab puffs that are RIDICULOUS??

    Hmmm...

Advocate installs webcam to track construction of new Whole Foods Market in Dallas' Lakewood district

The Lakewood area has such a strange strong emotional connection to this Whole Foods.

The Minyards was a POS - even my mom who shops at an IGA in Rosebush, MI (an Amish community) declared it worst grocery she has ever stepped into. Anything is better.

So Whole Foods said we're moving over.
People bitched about missing the sorta hole-in-wall WF on lower Greenville. They bitched about how long it took to start construction. Then they bitched when Whole Foods decided to scale back the original plan.

    And NOW a webcam.

Like my mom says: "Bitch, Bitch, Piss and Moan".

Dallas-based 7-Eleven offers behind-the-scenes tour to few media outlets

I'll confess to many an egg salad sandwich when I'm in a pinch for something quick, cheap and decent.

    Restaurant Review: La Duni

Who in their right mind gets the salad over yucca fries?? The yucca fries are WHY I go to La Duni. And then I get a six pack of popovers to go. Carb-a-licious!!!

New product in Dallas stores: Dry Soda

I felt seriously ripped off after a 4 pk of Kumquat Dry Sodas. Izzes are better and better priced (Super T has 12 packs for around $8)...for those cheap like me and still needing a good mixer (the pomegranate in particular)...

UPDATED: Looks like King Tut exhibit is coming to Dallas

Great! I'm going to start counting all the money I could have saved by not making a special trip to Chicago last summer to see Tut.

    Sonic Youth / Meat Puppets

It felt like a privilege; how fortunate we were to have a SY stop on their way from Marfa.

Highlights from the show - Trilogy from Daydream Nation and Schizophrenia from Sister. About half the show was newer stuff - most of which I had no idea of the song titles, but know all the words...:-).

My companion for the night, usually a SY-hater, finally "got it" by seeing it visually being built layer upon layer. Pure magic.

As a contrast from when Daydream Nation when released, I saw them play at the Somerville Theatre outside of Boston - the audience was walking out, calling them sell-outs, etc. What I wouldn't do to hear a show consisting of only Confusion is Sex, Evol and Sister songs. Oh-well.
